From ffmastermind.com--

AP reports the NFL has approved a stocking plan for the expansion Houston Texans that requires each of the 31 existing teams to expose five players from the 53-man roster. The plan, similar to the one used for Cleveland in 1999, also gives the Texans, who become the league's 32nd team this year, 14 extra picks in the 2002 and 2003 drafts. For the expansion draft Feb. 18, each of the 31 teams will submit a list of five veteran players for the Texans to choose. Only one of the five can be a player who was placed on injured reserve after the start of the 2001 season, and only one can have more than 10 years of experience. Punters and kickers can't be part of the expansion pool. The Texans then can choose between 30 and 42 players, who must make up at least 38 percent of the team's salary cap, expected to be in the vicinity of $72 million next season. Houston can pursue veteran free agents in the same way as other teams after the playoffs and Super Bowl.

My list of 5 players include:

1. Deion Sanders (more than 10 years experience)

2. Michael Bates

3. Matt Campbell

4. Donovan Arp

5. Donovan Greer (the one IR player)

If for some reason you can't put Deion on the list, I'd add Bruce Smith instead

I don't know IF you can put Deion on the List. I would 100% put Bruce Smith on there.

yep, quarterbacks are a strange phenomenon. you never know when the light bulb is going to go on with some of them.

some guys you wait 5 years for and they never pay you back with any production.

others stumble around for a few years and then hit their stride.

usually, it is AFTER moving to a new team. something about that change in scenery smile.gif

the other factor to me is how competitive and committed the guy is to improving.

Kurt Warner is competitive. Jeff Garcia is competitive. These guys even if they didn't turn out are players that WANT IT badly. And it shows.

Others such as Tony Banks and Ryan Leaf appear to be guys that were thrust into football and the NFL based on ability but not necessarily a love for the game. Or a focused work ethic. Things came easier for them early on and they got into a habit of coasting and being given preferential treatment.
