Royal pet to see psychologist after destructive rampage

January 5, 2003 (LONDON) — We all get a little cranky from time to time, and it happens in the animal kingdom as well. Even in royal circles.

Britain's Sunday Telegraph reports Princess Anne will send her bull terrier Florence to an animal psychologist to see if she can have an attitude adjustment.

Florence attacked a royal maid over the weekend and a few days earlier had injured one of Queen Elizabeth's beloved corgis so badly that he had to be euthanized.

Psychologist Roger Mugford says he expects to begin work with Florence in a few days.

His feeling is that she's not really aggressive or dangerous but is rather "just a dog who is feeling a bit out of sorts about something, perhaps pain or old age, and is feeling a bit cranky on the day."

Buckingham Palace is not commenting on whether Florence might be put down.
