REDSKINS NAME CHRIS THOMPSON AS TEAM’S

ED BLOCK COURAGE AWARD RECIPIENT

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have named running back Chris Thompson the winner of the team’s 2018 Ed Block Courage Award. The honor is given annually to a player from each National Football League team who displays extraordinary courage in the face of adversity.

Thompson missed seven games of the 2017 season after suffering a season-ending broken fibula in Week 12. This season, he returned from rib injury after missing weeks 6-7 and 9-12.

Thompson has appeared in 55 career regular season games with the Redskins since joining the team in 2013. He has recorded 213 rush attempts for 1,056 yards with five touchdowns on the ground and has hauled in 170 catches for 1,394 yards with 10 receptions for touchdowns in his career.

The Courage Award is named after Ed Block, the longtime head athletic trainer of the Baltimore Colts who was a pioneer in his profession and a respected humanitarian. The inaugural Ed Block Courage Award was presented in 1978 to Baltimore Colts defensive end Joe Ehrmann. Following the Colts’ departure from Baltimore in 1984, the scope of the award expanded to include one player from every team in the NFL.
