Fiedler and Griese practiced Thursday as the Dolphins prepared for Sunday night's game against Washington. Griese took most of the work with the first team. The decision's impact goes beyond Sunday. Whoever starts against the Redskins will likely start against Dallas on Thanksgiving Day because of the short break. ''Nothing new to report on the quarterback situation other than they both practiced and both guys looked good,'' Wannstedt said. Wannstedt did say he doesn't plan to alternate quarterbacks, as Washington coach Steve Spurrier has done. However, Wannstedt said Wednesday both might play. ''Did I say that?'' Wannstedt said. ``I didn't mean that.'' What he meant: Both might be ready to play. PERRY, NAILS REST Guards Todd Perry (right elbow) and Jamie Nails (left ankle) again were held out of practice. They're still listed as questionable. Wannstedt said both were ``better.'' Wannstedt said he would wait to see if either can practice today before making a final decision. Nails said he ''hopes'' to practice today. In addition, cornerback Patrick Surtain ''did everything'' in practice, Wannstedt said. Surtain is listed as questionable. TURNER'S HOPE Dolphins offensive coordinator Norv Turner is facing Washington for the second time since being fired as head coach during the 2000 season by Redskins owner Dan Snyder. Turner said the game carries no particular importance to him, other than he hopes he will get another chance to be a head coach. ''This my 19th year coaching, and a lot of the things we did in Washington were real good,'' Turner said. 'Maybe somebody will look at that and say, `Someone [Turner] deserves a shot.' '' SORRY, NO SACK Defensive end Jason Taylor's frustrating season of few sacks continued as he had one taken away from the game against Baltimore. Upon review by the Elias Sports Bureau -- at the Ravens' request -- the play was ruled an attempted run by quarterback Anthony Wright. ''We called. Not uncommon,'' Ravens vice president of public relations Kevin Byrne said. ``The play was designed as a quarterback draw, and the offensive linemen were running down the field.''
