RySkins Posted February 11, 2002 Share Posted February 11, 2002 Okay, Maryland-Duke student tickets go on sale tomorrow morning. Many students began lining up outside Cole Filed House knowing that the building was going to be opened up about 7:00 and that about 2,000 people would be let in. I would estimate that between 1,000-1500 were in front of me. Then the idoits opened the building at 5:00, catching everybody off guard and causing a huge mob of people! The result: I get shoved around for 2+ hourse trying to get in, and then, when I had gotten close we were informed that nobody else would be let in. I know there are more than 2000 people that managed to get in, many of whom did so by cutting through the line after the cops, who showed little care at all, lost control.<br /><br />Asside from the fact that hundreds of people managed to go from behind me to in front of me, the thing that really gets on my nerves is that most of these people don't even give a crap about these games...this is the only game all year that they'll go to. And loyal fans like myself who go to games against American and Detroit can't get in for this one!<br /><br />Sorry for the rant, but I have been anticipating this game for a long time. fansince62 Posted February 12, 2002 Share Posted February 12, 2002 my mother was a professor at umd for over 30 years. i've been attending or watching games since way back to the early viet nam war days. without doubt, the greatest single player and the greatest college basketball i have ever seen was when david thompson and ncs faced off against len elmore, tom macmillian et al. attended the greatest college game ever played: the acc finals between md & ncs when ncs went on to win the ncaa's and md didn't even receive an invite despite being ranked #4. no college player, including walton, ever dominated like david thompson.
