What Winners did Shanny bring here to DC?

Pretty much. How do you expect to win when no one knows how to win.

You teach them. Winning doesn't have to be learned on another NFL team - you admit as much when you reference RG3. These are NFL football players. They are or all have been winners of countless awards, best of this and best of that at every level prior to being in the NFL. They are for all intents and purposes - all winners.

But that is not the same thing as being a winning franchise in the NFL. In a world of parity and free agency and salary caps the team that does the little things right win. Its really that simple. Its why Joe Gibbs despite not being seen as a "success" in his second tenure gave us something that nobody else seems to be able to - he got men to do the little things well enough and consistently enough to compete every single week.

Spurrier is the product of a college system that is really all about recruiting. You put Spurrier on Youngstown state and he will suck. He is a bully, capable of beating inferior talent with superior talent. He got here and believed he could literally just run over everyone (remember osaka!).

Marty was on his way to more winning. Because he paid attention to the details and got that team to start doing the little things right. His plug got pulled too quickly.

Joe did it in 2005.

Zorn was a Qb coach who was suddenly thrown into the deepest end of the pool. It took the league 8 weeks to dissect his plays and destroy him. It was a joke.

What's happening here is not that players "don't know how to win". They don't do the little things right. If they do, they will start to win. Catch the ball. Know the plays. Don't go off-side. Line up right. Don't block in the back. Keep your composure in adversity. Know your assignment.

Look at every single game this year and I will tell you the little things we didn't do that cost us the game. Its all over the place. They have to do the little things well. As horrified as I am by some of the talent disparity we have (especially on defense) - even with it I think we'd be in a very different spot at the end of this year as soon as we eliminate the stupid little mistakes.

We don't have the best wide recievers - no debate here. But what if they just catch the balls when they hit them in their hands?

What about some of the poor throws from our rookie? What about the miss of Logan Paulsen in Pittsburgh? How different might that game have been if the recievers caught the ball and RG3 makes that wide open, no pressure throw?

How about the 13 penalties this week? Cmon man. Really?

The false starts. The holding penalties. The back breaking personal fouls. Getting ejected for taking your helmet off? REALLY??

Not aligning properlyy on Victor Cruz with 1:32 left in the game in a called double coverage over/under coverage? REALLY?

Letting that no-name go 82 yards wide open on a routine wheel route?

Missing your man in back to back weeks (the same man!) during punts and getting them blocked?

Running the screen pass on the last play of the game to the wrong side? Not knowing the situation and running around aimlessly afterwards?

Oh, and the coaches aren't immune AT ALL!!! :

Not switching over to man coverage on Danny Amendola well before he set NFL records in the first half of the rams game? Seriously?

Not going for it on 4th and 6 inches against Cincinatti?

Having no pass option on the goal line for Robert's sweep on 4th n goal this week?

Throwing the ball at the opponent as you are going down the field to win the game at St. Louis? REALLY?

False start by Fred Davis, in a crucial end of game situation AT HOME, then Kyle compounding it for like 30 yards of penalty yardage when you are about to win the game and break a home losing streak of historic proportions - you go and make it 4th and 35??

Close your eyes for a minute and just imagine they didn't consistently make these stupid mistakes. Do you think for a minute that their lack of speed or strength or skill would really have cost them all those games?

What Shanny was saying after Sunday about evaluation - in my opinion - is all about THIS. Its about stopping the stupid crap. Playing like professionals. The patriots don't have superstars every year all over the field. They have fielded secondaries as bad or worse talent wise as ours - they play with discipline. They play within the system. They play SMART. These guys with the exception of a few megastars like our quarterback are almost interchangeable parts. Its why you are seeing the resurrection of the careers of just about everyone who leaves our franchise over the last twenty years. Its Ryan Clark, Carlos Rodgers, Walt Harris, Laron Landry, etc etc. We scratch our heads about how these guys left us and became serviceable or worse - pro bowlers! - Its because they are on teams doing the little things right!!

Yup, we just need more talented players at the same time, with the mental toughness and drive to work hard and succeed....Helps if they are well coached and put in position and schemes to succeed. Then the winning and accomplishments and super bowls will come hopefully. Not simply guys that won somewhere else.

Brotherz you sir have hit the nail right on the head. It's the small things that are keeping us in the L column. With just minor fixes to some of what Brotherz has addressed we could well be on our way to wins in most of our remaining games. But if for example our receivers can't figure out to close their hands around the ball when it hits them, I see more L than W in our future.

Redskins have talent issues, especially on defense. I don't know why we brought in so many receivers this year, and let our defensive personnel suffer. Shanny didn't pay enough attention to our personnel on that side of the ball, and we are losing games because of it.

Fire him now I say, cut our losses and get rid of the guy.
