the Southeast division is the worst in hockey and the Hurricanes are the least talented division champs I have seen in YEARS.

looks to me like an early playoff exit for Carolina this year, even with most of the better teams in the West.

I'm a Canes fan as well, Troll. Will be at next Wednesday's game against NJ.

You're probably right, bulldog. Thing is, hockey is still so new around here that just making the playoffs is fun (even though almost everyone gets invited to that dance). Besides, this franchise has a record of not making the playoffs at all, much less going deep, so we'll take what we get and appreciate it.

And, for the record, I'd rather be a division champ with little talent than a team with more talent that finished behind us!

[ March 29, 2002, 01:54 PM: Message edited by: Brave ]

well, it may sound like and indeed be bitter grapes from my perspective, but finishing 8 points ahead with a mostly healthy roster after all the injuries the Caps have had to me is not that much of an accomplishment.

You take Francis and Kapanen out of the lineup for the same amount of time the Caps were without some of their top players and Carolina finishes behind the Caps, even with all the controversies and problems the team has.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And the Skins have had more talent than Dallas over the last four years, too. And if Davis hadn't have fumbled, or if Champ or Stevens hadn't have bitten, or if we could have stopped the run ...

They have to do it on the ice, same as the Skins have to do it on the field.

but the Skins haven't had many injuries of note, they just have failed to play well

and up until the very recent past, the Caps have OWNED the Hurricanes not the other way around, so the comparison to the Skins/Cowboys is not valid.

In fact, I think the season record this year is 2-1 in favor of the Caps with one game remaining.

There's a tie in there somewhere because I was at the last Cap/Cane game and it ended 2-2.

Wasn't trying to make the DIRECT connection between Canes/Caps and Dallas/Washington so much as trying to say "They(the Caps)have to get it done on the ice" ... which they have not. Not just against the Canes, but in general. But I do agree, bulldog, that the Canes are not worldbeaters and would be considered weak for a division champ.
