SkinsTerps26
no reason not to be the minor league for the NFL, but they have a window here to try to obtain some nfl players after a lock out happens
Highway66
Yes but I am hearing that this may be a fictional development by a man named Mike DWYER
scruffylookin
I don't know if this new USFL is a real thing or even if it is, if it has the financial model to do this but if an old school USFL started now with some heavy hitters as owners I think the NFL could be vulnerable. Not right away but in time. First this new USFL would have something the old USFL did not, NFL free agency. They could easily start bidding on NFL free agents and snag more than their fair share. With the lockout looming, a new leagule could make a killing in signing free agents this coming year. What the old USFL did wrong was trying to compete with NFL/force a merger way too soon. If they could couple deep pocket owners with patience, the NFL will find itself in a very real war for player's services.

You're kidding yourself if you think it does.
Destino
Strike or not, a league like this has no chance against the NFL. You're kidding yourself you think it does. The league with the best talent always wins. It would be insane if it happened but if the players union negotiated a better deal with a different league they'd be able to compete with the NFL. If they grew and offered rookies more money, the NFL would be finished within 5 years. Make no mistake about it the owners are not essential to professional football. There is too much money at stake for those players not to have a league willing to pay it.
Bubble Screen
^^ Totally disagree. The NFL isn't going anywhere. While I'll admit a strike could hurt, it won't hurt it near as much as the strike hurt MLB. I just can't see it.
