NavyDave
We are going to have alot of contract decisions to make this year along the o line especially. Do we overpay for our center or do we go in a different direction. I think we'll go with 4 RBs to help us keep five to six CB and 4 safeties ------------------ Dave
Monkey
As far a Center goes, that's why it wouldn't suprise me to see someone like Brandt make the regular squad or at least the practice squad. Also, the last RB, CB, S and LB (probably the last two) will need to play special teams. I would think that if we swapped out an RB for a CB, he'd have to be a good special teamer
Terry
Hey Monkey, I pretty much agree, but I'm sure Marty will have a surprise or three for us beforew TC is over. Are you leaving off Ham for the D line because you don't think he'll make the final 53?
NavyDave
While it's way too early to say for sure, I think Brandt, Skaggs and our Dave Butz clone should look at being roommates while being on the practice squad this year. The size of them is very intriguing ------------------ Dave
KMP
LB Greg Jones is no longer a Redskin. He signed with the Bears. ------------------
bulldog
the last offensive lineman to make it may be Trey Langley. He got good reviews from Joe Pendry and seems to be a player with enough versatility to play tackle and guard. On the defensive side of the ball, I get the feeling that if he continues to come along we may all be shocked by Marty starting Ifeanyi Ohalete at free safety. I rarely have seen Marty in the past tout a rookie that much before training camp, perhaps motivating him to match the expectations set. Terrell or a veteran free agent might end up with the slot, but Ohalete seems to be another in the Urlacher "freak" mold of a guy with undeniable size at 6'2 and 217 that can play defensive back and has good athleticism. Monkey
Terry, Ham is either the question mark or if Cowsette or Deloach don't make the squad. Think of this as the 53 man depth chart for camp. This assumes no injuries, suprises and no Deion. KMP, Jones is Robert Jones, the golf course desinger we signed from Miami.
bulldog
Monkey, the only trouble with the depth chart on the DL as you have it outlined is that both Cowsette and DeLoach are strictly defensive tackles with no upside at end. Ham plays end and is the only backup player at end that has been on an NFL regular season roster, with the Skins last year. He had 10 sacks in NFL Europe one season but has not gotten on the field for any significant time yet. Terry Bryant at 6'3 and 280 may be the only other player in camp at End that stands a chance of making the roster in my opinion, although even in his case he has to make a good leap in camp. I still think the Redskins will add a veteran on the DL before the season starts. Either we will sign a straight up End, or we will sign a veteran tackle that would allow Kenard Lang to move back to end in case Bruce or Marco gets injured. KMP
Thanks for the reminder Monkey. I can't begin to remember who's on this team anymore. So many players come and go I start to think Marty's signed players that he hasn't even talked to. Once I start seeing them play pre-season games and I can get the starters and their numbers in my head it will come together. Robert Jones Robert Jones Maybe if I repeat it enough I'll remember. Robert Jones Robert Jones ------------------
Monkey
KMP, For Robert Jones, I remember him via a golf course designer with a similar name. Going to the beach, I used to see his signs everywhere! Bulldog, I know Deloach and Cowsette have no end potential. My thinking is that if both take up a squad slot (along with Monds and Wilkenson), Lang can now back up one end while Ham or that ? back up the other.
