I find these two sentences funny when placed next to each other.

Anyway' date=' I pay taxes. I am a UMD graduate. I have no problem seeing my money subsidize the institution. However, when the school is holding porno viewings so a bunch of "creeps" can get together, a line is crossed. Having lived in CP, I would rather see the blight surrounding the campus be attended to. I'd settle for the school trying to actively improve its academics, too.[/quote']

So do I but doesn't make it less true about your high horse.

The line has already been crossed. You think stopping kids from seeing a porno at midnight is going to make them stop attending to the campus or focusing on acadmeics? The schools this movie were shown at were pretty good schools. You think UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, or Northwestern lowered their standard immediately after screening this. It's sad that the UMD brass folded like an accordion.

Do you think Stamp/The Hoff is funded solely by the tuition of UMD students?

Of course not. This fact is completely irrelevant to anything we're discussing' date=' of course: Your "disgusting" comment was directed at the pornography screening, not at the entire Union nor the hundreds of various events the Hoff Theater is used for on a yearly basis.

The Hoff charges admission for films and sells concessions. And for screenings like this one, they make a handsome little profit on each. That profit substantially offsets the Hoff's general film operating costs -- costs which otherwise would look more like 1/10 of a cent of your tax money instead of 1/20 of a cent.

In other words, showing porn for a night actually would have [i']reduced [/i]your overall tax burden by a teeny amount, instead of somehow costing you a comparatively teeny amount that you apparently are concerned about paying. But by all means, don't let facts get in the way of your false dilemmas and imaginary scenarios.
