Yomar
Spare the ducktape, spoil the child I say... Substitute teacher accused of taping first graders' mouth (Los Angeles-AP) -- A Los Angeles substitute teacher has been accused of using masking tape to close the mouths of eight first-graders so they would stay quiet. LA Unified School District spokeswoman Susan Cox says police will investigate the alleged actions at Huntington Drive Elementary School on May 15th. Cox says the parent of a child in the classroom brought the matter to school authorities. School principal Susan Saenz says 20 students in the classroom later confirmed the allegation to her. The school district is awaiting the result of a police investigation to decide whether it will take any disciplinary action against the unidentified teacher. Cox says the substitute works on a temporary basis for the district.
Brave
Can't say the temptation hasn't been there before with my own ... but I'd not be so stupid as to do that to someone else's kid.
mardi gras skin
When I taught High School, I imagined ways to shut those punks up. Every once in a while I triggered my inaginary electo-shock device. It got great imaginary results.
BlitzFiftySix
Whats the worst punishment you ever received from a teacher? In 4th grade, I once was forced to stand in the classroom trash can and hold each and every book I had in my desk for about an hour. You can imagine, I must have had about 13 books as they were stacked up to my chin with my arms outstretched below my waist. I can thank Ms. Pringle for my insane reach although it never furthered my basketball career.
TennesseeCarl
I went to school during the very un-P.C. late 1950s and early 1960s when corporal punishment was the order of the day. I saw kids get their heads pushed against brick walls (this was unusual) and I saw situations where a kid mouthed off in class and was later escorted out behind the school building by the gym coach for an 'attitude adjustment' (this was not so unusual). Nobody died. Nobody got sued. In later years, I imagine the kids who were traumatized recovered after years of therapy.
The Sisko
FL still had corporal punishment when I was growing up. Man that was some painful and embarrassing sh!t :stick:  I wonder if they still do that type of thing ? Now that I'm on the other side of the equation and trying to have kids, I wouldn't have a problem with corporal punishment.
