IHOPSkins
.......It is always more difficult to criticize and be objective about the company that is paying the bills or that you need to pay a bill.Does this apply to NPR?
Burgold
NPR is a different animal in many respects. One: the government money is much, much smaller a percentage of funding than people think. Two: NPR is a loose collection of independent stations that fly the NPR Flag, but they are run independently and are not beholden to the central hub in terms of programming or content... or at least their programming and content is not dictated to them from the national office. Three: They've seemed to navigate that danger reasonably well. Possibly, because of their non profit status. For profit news is often much more focused on ratings and advertising and other revenue streams, because they have to please their board and stock holders. The same is true for non profits, but in a different arc. More, if they are proven to be biased, then they lose the not for profit status and cease to exist. Four: It's a completely fair and legitimate question.
