Zguy28
Log Cabin Democrat: Couple returns to CBC 50 years after Wedding http://www.thecabin.net/stories/060208/loc_0602080003.shtml By RACHEL PARKER DICKERSON LOG CABIN STAFF WRITER J.W. and Patricia Dykes of Conway recently returned to the site of their wedding for a 50th anniversary celebration. They were married May 16, 1958, at Bruce Hall at Central Baptist College. On their anniversary, about 75 of their friends and family gathered at a conference room in the Mabee Student Center at CBC for a renewal of vows ceremony. Afterward, an employee of the college let them into Bruce Hall to take photos at the foot of the staircase where they were married 50 years ago. The story of their romance goes back to when J.W. was working for a telephone company in Conway and staying at the old 64/65 Motel. Patricia's mother was a waitress at the 64/65 Cafe, and J.W. alternated his evenings between that and one other restaurant. "Back then, waitresses talked to their customers," Patricia said. "One night she introduced us." Full article at link. *********** Got this emailed to me. Its good to hear a story of a marriage that worked in the news instead of just one's breaking up.
