Duke
.....to be re-signed after June 1 in a reasonable price??? As everyone clearly knows our D-line problem, I think he still draws much attention from the opponents' line. Or am I day dreaming???????
TC4
I think that his FULL salary for the 2003 season kicks in after the 1st, so it is cheaper to cut or redo his deal, unless they just sign him to a whole new deal.
NavyDave
If he comes in healthy, and not a tub of goo and he is willing to stay a renegotiation may be in order.
SkinsThug
He is solid, but not spectacular. The problem is there are no DTs out there that are solid, much less spectacular (ala Gardener). I would like to see BDW back, until we can get someone better.
Buddha
We are under the cap with his full salary now, we probably won't pursue any more big name free agents, and we're very thin at DT. The prudent thing to do would be to let him play at his current salary and drop him next year, rather than restructure and add more prorated money that will count against us when he departs. If he'd agree to a straight salary reduction, that would be fantastic. But I'd be against any restructuring without a damn good reason.
Talent Wasted at a Desk
I agree with Buddha. Good post.
Cskin
I think for the most part, the decision has already been made regarding BDW. If he is working out in the offseason conditioning problem and appears to have rededicated himself to coming to training camp at a good weight and ready to perform.... than he stays at his current deal. If he's a no show during the offseason program and appears similar to last year when seen during MC, than he's cut post June 1st. And...we should not restructure his deal and further risk the future cap, either he takes a pay cut or he is released.
