PatFischer37
Seems to be quite a bit similar to the skins team of the strike year of '87. They were very ordinary during the regular season with Jay Schroeder (Jason Campbell). Needed a spark from Doug Williams late in the season (Todd Collins). Wasnt given a shot from the pundits because of the top seed for the NFC playoffs for '87, the SF 49'ers (this year the Cowboys). Anyone else reminded of that year? The one constant is Gibbs...never underestimate a Joe Gibbs led playoff team!
tonyriggins
That 87 Superbowl year caught me by suprize, I will not be so this year. Nice comparison.
dinzelwashington
reminds me of the 2005 when portis finish the yr averaging over 100 each of his last five games... winning 5 in a row. season record 10-6. we make the playoffs... this yr, rush 100 four games in a row,, win four in a row. we end up 9-7 earning the last spot...this yr we wont lose to seattle.. eff them. they suck
BlueHenSkins
I think that our team right now is better than the '05 team. Going into the playoffs in '05, we started to slow down. If you remember, we barely beat the Eagles(who were without westbrook and mcfagg) in Philadelphia that last game. Brunell was struggling, and so was Portis. This year we are going into the playoffs with a full head of steam. Hopefully we make a huge push.
FunBunch7
I too have thought how this team is a bit like that 87' team... Our other 2 SB wins were expected beacuase we WERE the best team those years...in 87' however, the 49ers were head and shoulders better than us and thanks to the Vikings, they got knocked out in the 2nd round. Also, the way the 87' team stayed together and had no one cross the picket line all the while Joe Gibbs was performing a miralce as our "scabs" beat Dallas on the monday night replacement finale in which Dallas was loaded with their regular players... So to sum it up... You have "UNITY" You have a "Coaching under strange circumstnaces" You have a "QB Change late in the season"..albeit due to injury Yeah, there are definitely some simliarities...
