drewski
I was in Aruba for two weeks and a buddy of mine said he heard that Champ Bailey was in Aruba too. I did not see him until the airport departure and he was busy signing autographs. On the flight to Atlanta, Champ sat with the rest of us poor folks and again was extremely accomodating talking football and signing autographs. Finally, in the terminal, my 10 year old son was able to run up to him and get his autograph and after all the signatures and chatting on a long Delta flight, Champ was very friendly and quite gracious. My wife, who saw all of this was quite impressed with his good natured and patient attitude. He certainly won a ten year old fan for life!
JoeSkins
Champ Bailey is the best CB in the NFL, and he'll be a HOF'er one day. Let's hope that this kid remains a career Redskin. It's not too often you find superstars that are that gracious, it's a good thing to see. Good for you, Champ. And good for you, Drewski!
Brave
Glad to hear he's such a good guy. He certainly had the best to learn from, didn't he?
Tommy-the-Greek
Bailey and Smoot have had the "Best" mentor possible. And if they both follow in his footstips on and off the field. We will have the best and classiest CB's for a decade.
OrangeSkin
Always makes me feel good to hear stories like that...the only memory I have of meeting a 'Skins player was when Chip Lomiller refused to sign any autographs for anybody at training camp. I never liked that guy.
Guest fuji869
That is so cool to hear that Champ was fan friendly especially in an era where you hear of big named athletes brushing off fans.

I hope he is a career Redskin. I know it is a long shot but if Bailey stays with the Redskins for as long as Darrell has, he will be with the Team until 2018.
indyskinsfan
True stories that I love to hear about. These are the kind of guys that win you over on and off the field with their temperament and like you said, patience.

I feel a thrill!!!!! Thanks for the short on the facts and this displaces rumors about him being a snob, if they were out there. One must remember, these guys are on tight schedules.
NavyDave
I love hearing stories like this.
Hopefully the transition from Darrell Green to the youngins will be a lot easier because of his grace and class rubbing off on the two heirs.

It would be a very smart move to do an extension on Champ before the contract year becomes an issue; the same with Rock Jansen
