Sarge
What a barbarian! I mean really...he must have lured those upstanding individuals into his home and then gunned them down in cold blood!Take his gun dammit! Police: Homeowner Shoots, Kills Burglar Prosecutor Investigates Shooting Incident Posted: 1:48 p.m. EST February 25, 2003 Police say a suspect was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at a local home. Police Describe Shooting Anthony Saunders, 41, was reportedly waiting in his bedroom with a handgun when he heard three men break into his home at the 16800 block of Beaverland in Detroit around 4:00 a.m. Sunday. The suspects fled the scene when Saunders started shooting, but one of them was hit and fell to the ground in front of the man's home, according to police. The wounded suspect was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police are still searching for the other two suspects who escaped from the scene. Investigators say they have questioned Saunders, but he does not face any charges for the shooting at this time. Wayne County prosecutors will review the case further. redman
WTF does this mean? Originally posted by Air Sarge Anthony Saunders, 41, was reportedly waiting in his bedroom with a handgun when he heard three men break into his home . . . As for the latter part of the quote above, it may be bad news for him of he shot the guy as he was fleeing. It's inconsistent with our gut reaction to this, but if the shooter was out of immediate physical danger - which he would be with a fleeing intruder - then his right to defend himself with deadly force would be removed. Still, your original point was valid - these stories aren't reported enough.
Sarge
I think my story would be " I shot him inside the house, but then he ran outside!", where he fell to the ground.

Good point. That may be what's happened.
codeorama
FYI, I don't know about other states, but in Virginia, if you shoot a burglar coming in your window and he falls to the ground, you are screwed.
Kilmer17
The solution to this quandry is easy. Shoot the ******* wherever he is. If it's outside your home, drag his carcass into the house and let him sit for a moment to let the blood pool. Then drag him back outside and tell the cops you shot him inside and then drug him outside because you didnt want his carcass in your house. Just make sure you retrace the steps you used to drag him into the house. VOILA!
