WASHINGTON -- Two motorcycle officers collided on Interstate 395 on Sunday morning, and at least one of them was seriously injured, police said.

The D.C. officers were escorting buses carrying the Arizona Cardinals to Fed-Ex Field for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, police said. The crash happened about 10 a.m. on northbound I-395 at Maine Avenue Southwest.

Traffic was shut down in both directions as one of the officers was flown by helicopter to a nearby trauma center.

The conditions of the officers were not known Sunday afternoon.

Buses continued on to the stadium after the crash, police said.
