Editors rate the teams heading into Week Two

Sept. 11, 2007

No, not all the 1-0 teams are ahead of the 0-1 clubs. It’s only one week, but don’t dismiss the importance of getting off to a good start — since the NFL went to a 16-game schedule, teams that win Week One are about twice as likely to make the postseason as those who don’t.

1. Indianapolis Colts

Just in case you forgot who the champs are, the Colts pounded the 10-win Saints.

2. New England Patriots

Was that Vrabel and Seau on offense with the Pats up 17 in the fourth? Yup.

3. San Diego Chargers

Norv Turner might get used to this leaning-on-the-defense thing.

4. Chicago Bears

Might Cedric Benson be a bigger concern than Rex Grossman now?

5. Denver Broncos

Raiders preparing for the wishbone after watching Jay Cutler run the option.

6. New Orleans Saints

Sure, the defense looked bad, but what happened to the O-line?

7. Pittsburgh Steelers

Complaints about spreading the field came to a screeching halt after win.

8. Dallas Cowboys

Remember where you read it: Ferguson’s injury will be a big problem all year.

9. Seattle Seahawks

Quietly lurking after solid, silent win over the Buccaneers.

10. Carolina Panthers

Reports of Jake Delhomme’s demise were greatly exaggerated.

11. Cincinnati Bengals

How much of a toll did physical opening win over division-rival Ravens take?

12. Baltimore Ravens

Injuries to Ogden, McNair and Ray Lewis could be devastating.

13. Philadelphia Eagles

Not the way Reggie Brown (one catch) wanted to break out this season.

14. Green Bay Packers

They’ll have to find a running game somewhere, anywhere.

15. Jacksonville Jaguars

Don’t overlook how Josh Scobee’s injury played into the loss.

16. San Francisco 49ers

Very intriguing club might be a few men short of being ready for primetime.

17. Washington Redskins

We saw the best of Jason Campbell, but also the worst on those two picks.
