The Artist Posted October 21, 2001 Share Posted October 21, 2001 Rod's performance today is a sign of the type of player he's going to end up to be. He has dropped passes this year, no doubt, but any rookie reciever who can post 208 yards receiving against an NFL defense is going to get noticed. What's especially nice about this is that Gardner put in a lot of extra practice time this past week, working on his game and overall pass catching skills. And then for the hard work to translate on the field will help build the work ethic that Rod seems to already have. The season isn't shaping up how we wanted, but if players like Gardner learn this year and take an improved game out onto the field next year, all this will be well worth it. You are right that things are not shapping up to be the way we wanted in 2001 but Garner's and Arrington's performances show some promise for the future of the Washington Redskins. Those two touchdowns were great, but what really showcased his ability was that leaping +20 yard catch on third down. Simply amazing. Btw, did anybody notice the similarity between Gardner and Westbrook? I was a 100% certain it was Mike coming through in the clutch only to see 87 as he got up HTTR!
