cphil006
Why is Shar on the list as well? It's not like we spent a high draft pick on him. He was a starting NFL tackle for us, maybe not a great one, but was serviceable for a while. Doesn't matter when he was drafted. He was a terrible starter. One of the worst lineman I have ever seen that started. Worst all-time on our defense? Stanley Richard.
#98QBKiller
That's a cool screen name and although I'm too young to remember the days of Alvin Walton's impact, as I was just learning about the Redskins and football back then. I've seen Super Bowl XXII enough times to remember the sacks he earned in that game.
cphil006
Agree with other posters in this thread. Anyone who thought Alvin Frickin' Walton was one of the worst Redskins ever doesn't know jack about football. I was a fan during the Alvin Walton years and he stoned people. He hit Randall Cunningham one time so hard, the dude tried to get up but his body wouldn't let him. HTTR! agree. stanely richard was worst. speardog1
I remember Alvin Walton being one of the hardest hitters out there. He was one of my favorite players as a kid.

MarkB452
How can you say Alvin Walton is the worst Redskin ever....we had HEATH SHULER. Alvin Walton has a RING. The guy played on a DOMINANT defense. He wasnt the flashy guy but the defense he played on DESTROYED the offenses they faced and they couldnt have done that with any HORRIBLE people on the team >> Correction. He HAD 2 ringS. His wife pawned them and they could not pay off the loan. They now they belong to some collector who has them both plus a 1982 ring (not sure who that one was from). http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19970125&slug=2520623 Also, Jim Speros, the owner of the Baltimore Stallions, used to be a Redskins employee. I remember reading in a book (Mark May's??) that the Redskins players used to sell their tickets through him. http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/1998/09/28/story2.html Even weirder, Timmy Smith was invited to tryout with the Baltimore Stallions the same year Alvin Walton played. http://www.bookrags.com/highbeam/t-smith-on-run-with-cfl-colts-ex-hb/
MarkB452
Why'd Alvin Walton leave the NFL after only 5 years? I know that in 1991 the Skins brought in Danny Copeland who ended up taking the starting SS job, but is there a reason why Walton wasn't picked up by someone else? >> My brother always said he could hit hard, but couldn't cover anybody (reminds me of this guy...http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2006/06/17/PH2006061701085.jpg and the #40 might not be a coincidence!) BTW, watch the highlights of the first Dallas game in 1991. E. Smith breaks a huge run after #40 (Walton) goes for a knockout hit and misses. PA Skin Fan
naming Walton and Arch Deluxe in the same sentence is a disgrace to Mr. Walton. The man was a PLAYER. AD didn't do anything for the Skins while Alvin Walton lit up opposing players.
