Both of those statements are false. Dave Szott cane out of retirement late in the 2001 preseason. The primary reason he came out of retirement was at the urging of his former coach, Schottenheimer, who wasnt with us in 2000, so it makes no sense to say that Szott was with us in 2000

if you think this is bad just see Peter King try to run down the depth charts of teams he is speaking about, the guy only seems to know 10-15 of the starters and has no idea what teams have on the bench as younger developmental players.

all you have to do is pick up a Street and Smiths and read the roster breakdowns in the summer to see the depth charts and the new draft choices and how they stand after the second round of minicamps.

Geez....for all that money these dorks in the media are being paid you would think they could invest $10 in a Football Almanac or subscription to a Street and Smith's or Pro Football Weekly.

I sent an e-mail to King about this:

Mr. King,

It is somewhat surprising to see a man of your knowledge and reputation touch only on the top players and most obvious trends of a given team, without apparently taking the time to study – or seek the counsel of those in the know – the depth charts and/or developmental circumstances on the various NFL teams. Yes, there are 32 teams, so I know it takes a bit of time.

But that's why they pay you, no?

Why not invest some time, and perhaps a dollar or two, in some of the readily available magazines that contain considerable detail on each team, and/or take the time to access the various premium (and free) web sites that contain all the information you could possibly need in formulating rather more meaningful information for the benefit of your readers.

Take advantage of the available press, Mr. King, it will serve you – and us – better.

Your humble fan,

Om

*

Here's his reply:

Dear Om,

Eff the media. They're idiots.

Peter King
