Let's Get Our Backups Late

The best thing about our coaching staff is that these guys will be able to mold rookies with potential into something. With our 5th, 2 6th's, and 2 7th's, let's go get those raw prospects with athleticism and whose flaws can be fixed. Good solid players like Fred Matua, who will need a little coaching up, could still be available by the 5th round. Heck, corners like David Pittman, Gerris McPhearson, and Josh Lay who have the tools but will need some coaching are still available. With a little coaching from Jerry Gray, the league's best DB coach, one of these guys could step up for us if Springs or Rogers go down.

Btw I think that Molinaro and Pucillo are going to be good backups so all we need is another guard that we can get in the draft. A guy like Matua who is fiery and intense and is only entering the draft because his mom has breast cancer and his family is having financial problems. Could be a first rounder next year

well we won't be getting nate wayne to play linebacker... he signed with detroit today per kffl.com

The more I've thought about it, I think Clemons will be able to be a very solid starter. Just look at precedent. If there is one thing that this franchise has been good at doing for the last decade, it is making lower-round draft choices and UDFAs into starting LBs. Look at Shawn Barber, Derek Smith, Antonio Pierce, and Lemar Marshall. Clemons has the physical tools and now he is motivated to grab that starting spot.
