Fazio says Browns, Arrington good fit

Foge Fazio has coached LaVar Arrington in Washington and he has coached defense for the Browns. He thinks the marriage in free agency of Arrington and football-mad Cleveland would be a blessed event.

"If you want to solidify [the Browns' defense], here's a guy that's going to bring a lot of excitement," Fazio said. "And he's good with the fans. He's got all the intangibles."

Arrington, 27, became a free agent when he agreed to forfeit $4.4 million of deferred bonuses owed him by the Washington Redskins last week.

The 6-3, 255-pound linebacker -- snubbed by the Browns in 2000 when they chose Penn State teammate Courtney Brown with the No. 1 pick -- is definitely on the team's radar screen.

"Big, fast, high-energy, strong, motivated, fun to watch," a high-ranking Browns official said of Arrington.
