If healthy (and nobody behind bars), I'm envisioning...

...a totally dominant defense for 2006. This is like the team in the '82 season that won the Super Bowl. They gradually started believing in themselves and then surprised everyone and took home the title. The next year, they came out on fire and lit up the league.

This time around though, it will be the defense that crushes it next year. We have excellent depth, and I'm confident that we'll add a game-changing pass rusher at DE. That will be the icing on the cake. Rogers will be great next year. LaVar will be back and will have THE BEST YEAR OF HIS CAREER. ST will work out here this offseason and keep his nose clean, and be the best, most feared safety in the league. Marcus Washington will be our defensive MVP, the straw that stirs the drink. Not to mention Griffin, Springs, Salavea, Daniels, and Marshall. Stellar.

Our schedule even looks pretty favorable next year, with most of our tough non-divisional opponents coming to FedEx. With the Eagles back in the mix, T.O. going to Dallas, and Manning's maturation, we'll be in the toughest division in the NFL, hands down. We'll finish 12-4 or 13-3, and we'll be the most battle-tested team going into the playoffs (except for maybe our division foes, who have to play against us instead of themselves). Then we will stomp our way to the title.

Return to glory, baby. Wouldn't it be nice? Maybe we'll even kick off the new era with a Lombardi trophy this year, just like 23 years ago.
