notoriouslyKEN Posted December 30, 2005 Share Posted December 30, 2005 Well, if you want to completely erase all data and re-install the OS. Boot the computer with the cd. Go through like you are going to do a windows installation on the drive. At one point it will come up and ask you what partition to install on. Delete all partitions (unless you have another Hard Disk in there then just delete the one that had the OS on it to begin with), then create a new partition for the OS. The computer will create the partition then ask you to format. It will format then reinstall OS. Whole process should be about 2 hours to reinstall XP, but you don't really have to be around the computer for the install. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rebornempowered Posted December 30, 2005 Share Posted December 30, 2005 If possible I would not reformat with your restore disc. If you can install Windows and the stuff you need individually. This will keep all the Crapware that comes installed on most PC's off your PC. I do this with anything I don't build myself (notebook) and you notice an incredible performance difference.
