PREDICTOR
Just got through watching Solomon Wilcox on the NFL channel, and he talked role players on Gibbs team, and said if Clinton Portis runs the ball then Ladell Betts is contributing because he must be the guy to CATCH the ball and BLOCK. My question is has he even been paying attention? Betts can't block. He whiffs on a lot of blocks....but PORTIS is the blocker. Man o Man Clinton Portis is probably the best blocking halfback in the NFL right now. DId anyone see the highlights of him knocking people down during the Eagles game. Clinton is one tough sunabeeeeetch. Clinton understands how to pick up blitzers, and Clinton explodes into their face. Clinton actually knocks people down. But Wilcox is an idiot if he doesn't know that Portis is better blocker. This is just one example but it clearly shows that they don't pay attention and just assume things. I will say that Merrill Hoge and Sean Salisbury and Mark Schlereth are good. Those are the only 3 guys that consistently point out things that make sense. RabidFan
Wilcox and Sharpe love Betts and think he could start on any other team in the league....they said it last week especially Sharpe who thinks Betts brings things to the table Portis doesn't and we have a great tandem at RB. Carry on your rant though.
BogeyMan
I would add Jaws to your list - he's the best commentator on ESPN as far as breaking down film.
dfitzo53
You know who I can't stand? Sal Paolantonio. He just annoys me. Anyway, if you guys want to hear bad analysis you should listen to the clowns that the Colts have on the radio out here. My mom knows more about football.
lunarluau
99% of them just report their opinions based on what they’ve read in the same papers and Internet blogs, sites, etc. we see and read. Playing the game just makes you a retired professional football player, not an expert. BTW, the fact that Michael Irvin has a job as a commentator is an embarrassment to ESPN and The United States of America's school system. :eaglesuck :gaintsuck :dallasuck
freakofthesouth
Just the title of this thread is funny to me.
barefoot
BTW, the fact that Michael Irvin has a job as a commentator is an embarrassment to ESPN and The United States of America's school system. I still can't understand half of what he says. One night, he actually had to wipe spit off his lips while talking in the middle of his piece, true pro. :helmet:
