In a phone booth, sure I'd believe Norwell was better than Leno. But actually connecting in space, Leno could and Norwell couldn't. Run blocking shouldn't be viewed by PFF as just seal off or push away the man on your playside shoulder (or wherever the immediate guy is). Norwell could not climb well and reach the linebackers. He could not pull well. Pursuit often reached the spots our RB's on stretch plays or WR's on screens were trying to go through. Big plays are kind of impossible at that point.

I don't understand how anyone who puts on tape of Trai playing in 2022 thinks his legs have anything left in them. Saints will learn I suppose.

I desperately miss having the 6th best oline in the NFL, multiple seasons in a row. According to PFF anyhow. It's so absolutely pivotal to a successful offense. I will never forgive Ron if his minor offensive line moves this past offseason don't work out 😢

That's a refreshingly different look at record predictions. They've got the AFC really cleaning the NFC's clock in inter-conference games.

Not surprised at all. Watching Trai Turner and Andrew Norwell try and connect with anybody on the move was a nightmare. 2nd level defenders and backside pursuit were always there.

Surpisingly, the Saints just signed Trai. Not sure what they're expecting to get from him. I assume depth.

If you're not gonna be optimistic in May and June then what's the point...

I've had offseason optimism for the last 30 years. All it's gotten me is extra pain, agony, and disappointment.

  4. Generally during the offseason, I get pretty excited about football. I talk myself into feeling optimistic about our team. I start dreaming of good qb play, fast starts, lots of wins, and playoff appearances. It basically always ends up being false optimism. Becomes pretty apparent after we start 1 - 4 or 2 - 5. This offseason however, feels different. I feel very pessimistic. I feel like we're staring down a 7 - 10 season. I don't know why really. I just feel like we're gonna suck 😫

    Best Case: 9-8

    Week 1: Cards- Win: 1-0

    Week 2: @Broncos- Win: 2-0

    Week 3: Bills- Loss: 2-1

    Week 4: @Eagles- Loss: 2-2

    Week 5: Bears- Win: 3-2

    Week 6: @Falcons- Win: 4-2

    Week 7: @Giants- Loss: 4-3

    Week 8: Eagles- Win: 5-3

    Week 9: @Pats- Loss: 5-4

    Week 10: @Seahawks- Loss: 5-5

    Week 11: Giants- Win: 6-5

    Week 12: @Boys- Loss: 6-6

    Week 13: Dolphins- Win: 7-6

    Week 14: Bye

    Week 15: @Rams- Win: 8-6

    Week 16: @Jets- Loss: 8-7

    Week 17: 49ers- Loss: 8-8

    Week 18: Boys- Win: 9-8

    We earn the 7th seed.

    Wild Card: @Unknown 2nd seed- Loss: 0-1

So best case we finish 9-9, making the playoffs as the 7th seed with a 9-8 record but losing in the wild card round to finish 9-9.

    =====================================================================================================

    Worst Case: 6-11

    Week 1: Cards- Win: 1-0

    Week 2: @Broncos- Loss: 1-1

    Week 3: Bills- Loss: 1-2

    Week 4: @Eagles- Loss: 1-3

    Week 5: Bears- Win: 2-3

    Week 6: @Falcons- Loss: 2-4

    Week 7: @Giants- Loss: 2-5

    Sam is benched. Jacoby starts.

    Week 8: Eagles- Win: 3-5

    Week 9: @Pats- Loss: 3-6

    Week 10: @Seahawks- Loss: 3-7

    Week 11: Giants- Win: 4-7

    Week 12: @Boys- Loss: 4-8

    Week 13: Dolphins- Win: 5-8

    Week 14: Bye

    Week 15: @Rams- Loss: 5-9

    Week 16: @Jets- Loss: 5-10

Jacoby is benched. Sam finishes season as starter. Ron is fired and EB finishes the season as interim coach. The gms if they haven't been fired beforehand, are also fired.

    Week 17: 49ers- Loss: 5-11

    Week 18: Boys- Win: 6-11

So worst case we finish 6-11.  Sam struggles and is benched after a 2-5 start. Jacoby goes 3-5 before being benched. Josh decides to get a jump on the coaching season by firing Ron with 2 games left. Also, gets a jump of the gm season by cleaning house also.  He lets EB finish the season as interim coach. Sam gets to start the final 2 games.

I say we will finish closer to the worse case than best case. Ron may last the entire season, but everyone will shown the door in the 24 offseason.

Starting out 2 - 0 would be really huge but we seemingly never, ever do. Even with Jacksonville and Detroit as our first two games ( before they both turned out to be pretty good ) fans were saying 2 - 0, gonna be 2 - 0. I was like ehhhh not so fast my friend. It's Washington we're talking about. It'll be 1 - 1. Not sure which game is a win and which is a loss but it'll almost definitely be 1 - 1. I am gonna go with that again in 2023. Probably a win vs Arizona and loss vs Denver but I'd sell my soul to the devil for a very rare ( for us ) 2 - 0 start! Well not really but I'd be ecstatic!

I love this video. I also find it humorous that Pat Summerall suggested that DG may have injured his hamstring. Um Pat, when athletes injure their hamstring, they grab the back of their thigh area ( like mlb players running to 1st base )  They don't grab their stomach/side area 🤣  That looked more like a rib or oblique possibility to me...

Good to see him working hard at it ! What a force he could be on this defense.  Hopefully, all these young guys and the exit of the Snyder S Show ushers in a new chapter in Washington football history.

One where the news about this team is filled with this sort of information and not the constant barrage of tabloid crap we have been subjected to for the last 20+ years.

Maybe I'm a fool for thinking there is real hope around the team and players like Chase for a change.

That video was from 2 or 3 years ago. I'm not sure if he looks that good currently and post injury.

Don't know if this has been mentioned in other posts, but wouldn't it be a Snyder going away present for him to trade for Lamar Jackson and give him a 4 year 200m fully guaranteed contract. And say there you are NFL and Goodell **** you. And leave the new owner to pick up the pieces.

That would be incredible. Finally have a franchise qb and Commanders win the Super Bowl in the 2023-24 season! Woohoo!!!

There was a time that pushing your ball carrier from behind was against the rules.  I wonder why they changed it.

I'm shocked that other teams haven't studied the exact way that they do it and mimicked it. They say it's a copycat league and all. It's practically a 100% successful on 3rd or 4th and short.

Tell you what though, the Defense should be planning on how to stop those BS QB sneaks on short downs!  Ron and Jack better find creative plays to stop Sirianni with those 4th and short plays!

Have they failed on any of those plays yet? It's absolutely ridiculous, the rate of success they have on that play. It seems like the fact that they have a great oline, great center, qb who is incredibly strong, and rbs pushing the qb from behind makes it absolutely unstoppable. Frustrates me.

    On 2/13/2023 at 12:01 PM, Warhead36 said:

My guess is they'll no longer allow guys to push players forward in those scrums. Beyond that, Jason Kelce is an expert at moving the ball just slightly up enough that it reduces the amount needed for first downs and Lane Johnson is great at firing off juuust as the ball is snapped so it looks like he's false starting but he's not(kinda like the reverse Demarcus Ware).

I've always felt like that was cheating. RB's pushing the qb forward. I know it's allowed but I don't think it should be. Seems like a lack of integrity when the qb isn't actually accomplishing the goal, but he's basically a box being pushed by a forklift. It gives an unfathomable advantage to the offense. It's incredibly unfair to the defenses. It makes it way too easy for sneaks to be successful.

  12. Michigan's center OO. Not even gonna try to spell his name, is a beast. Won the outland trophy award. He's a 6'3 310 pound monster. Gave up zero sacks all season long. After preposterously losing our #1 and #2 center for the season, two consecutive seasons, maybe we should draft him, if he's available when we pick.

Hated to see the Giants win yesterday but they will get what is coming to them in the next few weeks. Almost worth it to see Kirk loose esp with that comeback bid at the end, throw a 3 yard pass completion when it is 4th and 8. So glad we let him walk. Perfect time to go in the office and ask for a raise. Did he ever win a playoff game?

Kirk and the Vikings beat the Saints in the playoffs during the 2019-20 season. He's 1 - 4 in the playoffs in his career. Not very good.

Unfortunately the antithesis happened. Dallas smoked TB. Smh.

May the Facebook and Twitter trolls have mercy on your soul

I have a feeling that after a couple of weeks, they'll end up missing him and we'll see him back and crazier than ever fairly soon.

Mistake letting your best D player this year go, in his prime. He can be paid but do not blow your wad on another high price cast off QB. Wentz, logan,Norwell, Lucas, Charles, Mline, should be first cuts. Resign Curl too, draft another CB, RB,TE,OL LB  with first pick or trade down if it makes the team better, even trade down if better value. No reaching for a QB either. No tanking either, need a new approach for a QB, sit back maybe let the QB come to you go with what you got.

Why cut Lucas? He's easily our best backup offensive lineman, if Schweitzer is starting. That would really hurt our depth.
