Treat him like Jordan Reed. Pretend he doesn't even exist on your roster and anything you get out of him is a bonus.

This is how I treat everyone on the roster

Honestly, I wouldn't even give up a 2nd for Jimmy G, let alone a 1st. The guy is utterly mediocre and there's almost zero chance that we'd get to a SB with him. It would just be another ho-hum QB for a ho-hum team doing ho-hum things.

I agree with this, if we get Jimmy it won't be long until the QB search starts up again. He's good enough to start but he'd be coming to a much worse situation here than any he's ever been in. I think its super likely he flops with us.

In a scenario where we are starting TH next season, is there any hope that he can build up some arm strength in the off season ? Are there examples of QBs doing this  ?

I really don't know if thats physically possible to do in an off season, and if he could have done it, he probably would have already. The guy seems like a grinder maybe there is some hope if we have to call on him again.

It seems like it would be possible, baseball players can get more velocity on their fastballs, but of course that velocity goes back down when they're roughly in their mid 30s.

I think you are right though that it's questionable if it's even physically possible to do in an offseason.

Zach Wilson potentially had a pretty big boost in arm strength off the top of my head. It could also be that he's improved his confidence and willingness to zip the ball in places. Factors that we will probably never know.

  4. As much as I like Heinicke, he's a backup, but a pretty good one. He's your ace in a hole if your starter gets injured as he will keep you in games and sometimes even contribute to wins.

But, if he is our starter next year, the entire front office should be fired on the spot. If the best they can do is settle on a backup, they should be shown the door. The 2020 draft (and season really) was a golden opportunity to obtain a franchise QB but we decided to use the pick on a DE. It still blows my mind that these guys actually thought Haskins was going to be better than whatever franchise QB we could have drafted at #2.

Here we are again though, being a QB needy team outside of the top 10. This front office is not really impressing me or making the game changing moves that I was expecting. The roster is okay, but its still missing by far the most important part.

The missing link to the playoffs. You fortify the line and add to the D. You resign him to another 1 year deal but maybe a little less. Fitz was brought in hopes of going to the playoffs the way our D was playing. We never saw that this year. So the question still remains.

The other question one has to think about is: Are we really a QB away from winning it all? Is the QB class in 2023 better? Will we have a higher pick in 2023 like we are going to have in 2022 (if we lose out that is and will be picking at 7).

Maybe, it all depends on scheduling, but I don't have much faith in a 40 year old coming off a hip injury. It just doesn't do much to inspire hope that we will or could be alright for the foreseeable future.

We definitely aren't a QB away from winning it all, there is no sustainable growth with this team lol. Most players just stay as good as they were as rookies and others take steps back.

The missing link might be Fitz next year. They bring him back since the QB class is okay but not great in the draft. Add to the Oline and get better LB'ers. Find a better kicker too.

The missing link to what exactly? He would get murdered again behind this OL, no way he survives the season.

  7. I dont understand why Rivera is acting like you have to have the #1 pick to find a franchise QB. It obviously helps, but come on, we just got our ass kicked by the 135th pick of the 2016 draft.

The problem is, we simply can't develop a QB and put them in position to succeed and I think Ron knows this. He sounds like he would be relying on the talent of that player to overcome our deficiencies, which obviously runs very deep.

I wouldn't trust this team with a talent like Burrow.

Bengals possibly going to worst a year after drafting Burrow #1 overall and this team will probably go from first to worst

That 7-9 season was such an outlier its not even funny.

We played terrible backup QBs all year. We were honestly a below average team last year that just got really lucky with a lack of injuries and running into teams that were injured.

one of your best posts ever imo. We don’t agree on a lot but you’re right that it’s cosmically embarrassing for Snyder that Shanahan, McVay, and LeFleur are all out there experiencing various levels of success and all were in the pipeline here.

I actually doubt those 3 find sustained success here. I just can't picture it with our owner, the stench is too much for a single coach to overcome.

    And a semi-competent owner.

Jerry gets all the small things right. He might be too involved with the roster construction but damn near everything else he is spot on with.

He spends money on their facilities and scouts. Whether we want to believe it or not things like that matter and make a difference. Dan doesn't give a **** about any of that.

i literally have to give her the schedule when it comes out and say “I ask for 4 hours on 17 days a year.  That’s 68 total hours.”

And here I am driving to Disney during a Dallas game.  Granted, it worked out fairly well in this case.

The fact that you can stomach to watch every minute of this team is commendable. We just aren't a fun team to watch so I can't get invested into it like that.

I mean everyone knows they're going to eff up the name change. They'll probably misspell the name or something in the first press release.

There will be so many fails in the next 12 months because the owner is so ****ing incompetent that he can't even prevent the fans from getting poop water poured on them at FedEx.
