  1. Jesus xmas how long is the search going to go. This feels like one of the least desirable jobs out there, given the Payton rumors, the new ownership, no one with a decent track record wants to touch this job with a flag pole even with decent weapons at WR and RB. I feel like Riverboat Ron is gonna have to get someone unproven, little to no attachments but eager to get something on the resume even if this a 1 and done gig..

My worry with Sean Payton would be how much of it was him vs. having Drew Brees around all those years.

I feel like a younger, on-the-way-up coach would be the best option if the Commanders have the right person in place to evaluate them.

EXACTLY.... I heard on sports talk radio in San Diego there's a chance hes waiting for the Chargers gig and they entertained the idea of him working with Herbert. I'm sitting here like we saw what he really was when Brees left. Brees had success in San Diego without Payton, but the two together worked out great for New Orleans but the question is, can he do anything with your team if he doesn't have the ideal QB situation?  Initial impressions were no..

Also its hilarious how many OC interviews we're doing. Sounds like no one wants to be apart of this mess. I highly doubt its because we're being very picky..

  3. I think it just sucks that we went one pick after Cincy we weren't as bad as they were. They went with the consensus #1 in Burrow and here we are 3 years later, Cincy is talking a return to the super bowl and what weapons they can put around Burrow etc and they are set for the next decade plus at that position and here we just 1 win better than CY's rookie year and nothing but questions about Chase's future and we're still trying to figure out the QB position.. So many more tough questions than answers...

And then you look at the Aiden Hutchinson did this year..But then you look at what other high drafted rushers did lately and CY destroyed them by comparison..

taylor's biggest hurdle to staying on as the back up is his last name has 3 syllables, so its easy to chant because the remaining ****-faced fans already learned RG3 years ago. Solid backup...just cant have the drunk fans chanting.

The one stat that stood out for me with TH is his 98 yards rushing . He did not run the ball at all compared to last year where he kept so many drives alive with his legs with 300 yards on the ground..  Whether you attribute it to the line or maybe he wanted to be more of a pocket passer his legs were a great weapon last season that wasn't utilized this year..

  5. I guess I get letting guys rest in a meaningless game but then I think of '96 after we blew a 7-1 start to the season and ending the year 9-7 and in the finale vs Dallas, who had nothing to play for and rested many starters heading into the playoffs, we rolled out with all our starters in a meaningless finale as it was the last in RFK and played some of the most inspired ball we wish we could have seen during the losing streak that cost them the playoffs in a 37-10 rout. I believe Terry Allen ran for like 3 tds that day.

Im not sure if Sunday is going to be a good measuring stick for stick for Howell knowing he's not gonna be playing with many of the starters...

  6. I think you trade back at 14 to the mid 20's and grab Gibbs from Bama. I know, that gives us 3 rbs but he is your return threat we've lacked. When GIbson leaves you have his replacement. with the picks get from trading back, address backup center with someone who can also play guard, LB, corner, DT depth.

  7. I think this is a real postive case scenario losing today. It give us a must need chance to see Howell when every other QB drafted this year and some street FA all saw time and he was the only draftee that hadn't yet.. It gives you something to build on. Anyone remember Mahomes debut? No I'm not going there but his first start was rather underwhelming but who knows that Reid saw in him that lead to his insane 1st year starting campaign. The end result is we'll have a better idea of what our focus in the offseason should be at..

That's not my perspective. We are nothing like Buffalo or Pittsburgh or Green Bay when it comes to patience and staying loyal to players while they develop. Our players have had an adversarial attitude towards the fanbase for over a decade. Whether we deserve to be so cynical is another topic. My point is that it will be an uphill battle to change this dynamic.

Well in the case of Buffalo, their fan base' patience was tested a ton after Jim Kelly left and they went through a ton of QBs. With Pittsburgh Big Ben lead them to 15 wins his rookie year and they were set. GB has been set at QB since '92 you can win drinks easily vs them if you ask them to name their QB before Brett Favre and 65% won't know Don Majowski. I literally ran into a Packer fan last night, who'd been to lambaugh field and didn't know "Bang on the Drum all day" was their touchdown song...

With us we haven't had that set it and forget it QB since probably Theismann. We got teased with Rypien saw the potential but it didn't last. Brad Johnson teased us but he was 2 n done, Brunell too, of course Rg3 and we gave up on Cousins...

So of course the majority of those teams listed are patient because their QB play as been good and consistent..
