Defense got shredded. They are not that good folks.

I mean our D never really handled any of the gunslinging QB's last year. They all went off on us, we just played so many backups in the backhalf of the season people drank too much of the cool aid. Don't get me started on the running QB's.

Funny remembering some of you arguing how the Darrick Forest pick instantly allowed us to cut Deshazor Everett, the ever capable hard hitting backup FS / SS and special teams captain, who arguably solidified the secondary last year.  Now Forest may not make the roster?  How the tables have turned!

I know some mentioned the fumble he forced vs Cincy but I remember a few plays earlier falling HARD for a playaction role out by the QB that reminded me of the Spurrier defenses. I mean he had no clue the QB still had the ball.

  3. So it begins.. Ioannidis is locked up till '23. Where does that leave Payne? I'm sure its something to be addressed next season since he was drafted in '18. To me the answer seems Payne might be the odd man out. Not due to lack of talent, Maybe trade Payne and get a Lions share while he's still cheap for a couple years before you lose him for nothing. I don't think you can keep him at the price he's going to deserve.

    Congrats JA, well deserved..

    That's a hell of a course-load, Taylor.

How the hell do you not have a guy like that on your roster by default. An NFL playbook, schemes, verbage is probably checkers or tic tac toe to him. Gonna look up his wonderlic score, they probably said he was above that test and said. You're good bro..

I'm imagining him in the film room braking down plays probably better than the coaches...

Not going to the strip club, beautiful... My god what an inspiring performance. Want to see more of him, however this is the NFL, you have plenty of guys that have initial success sometimes out the gate, and then the league finally gets film on you and adjusts. If he is our guy I'm wondering how he'll be when they get film on him.. So proud of him and this team.

I think we're all in agreement on that one.

I think the biggest question is, what do we do with Collins ?

I wish we could trade him, but I'm guessing his cap number would make that unrealistic ?

I say we embrace the idea of having those two on the team and having a fantastic secondary.. Why is everyone so quick to dimiss and get rid of Collins when he brings so much to the team.. I get the cap number but lets see this out first..

AG had a Grade 1 Turf Toe injury almost 2 weeks ago.  He was DNP for practice but they tested him.  He'll have a follow-up 24 hrs later that might include an MRI to assess the degree of inflammation and an assessment of his pain response from a recorded range of motion.  If the assessment reveals no increase in pain or inflammation then they'll bump him up a notch for Sunday.

No, we've played 2 games since he suffered it early vs Pittsburg but he's been hurt a only a little over a week.

Nobody is suggesting we get rid of him. He's a talent sure. But the impact has been extremely underwhelming this year. Yes I know PFF rankings etc. blah blah blah, but the good ones actually finish the job and get the sack. Young hasn't made one game changing play yet until today and that was for the other team. Ryan Kerrigan in his first career game had a pick 6.

He's just the victim of the hype machine of the Bosa brothers. What did we hear leading up to drafting him? He was better than both of them. Joey had 12.5 sacks his rookie year, Nick had 9 ( not nick at night).  Chase is on pace for 7. I still think he's a talent, but I was never on board with getting this kid when we had so many problems on this team, trading out and getting bodies is what I wanted. But maybe there wasn't a good enough deal out there to warrant trading out.

But its rare to see young Dlineman come out the gates and have huge impacts in the league. Consider his age and potential, I mean give him a few years and I think we all forget these pointless arguments we're making today as he gets his. Everyone is expecting an LT, Javon Kearse rookie year, Reggie White, Mean Joe Greene type impact in the league though and the reason those seasons from those players are so memorable is cause they are so rare.

But hey its a different game now than it was back then. Chase Young is not gonna get matched up vs RB's like LT was so often out the gate as he rewrote the position. You didn't have these fast aerial assault favoring games back when Reggie White and Mean Joe Greene were playing.

It doesn't help our offense sucks and the D doesn't wake up till the 2nd half when we're down 17 plus points and the game isn't catered to his strengths.. Its just gonna be a process. I think everyone is just gonna pile on because his mistake helped cost us the game.

I think he’s a rhythm runner that can eventually wear down defenses.  He’s also dynamic enough to turn swing passes and screens into long gainers.  I’d just prefer to see more of him and way less barber.  Really the only spell given is the occasional 3d nod to jd.  just my opinion and I am no head coach.  I just see a potential bell cow

I don't mind throwing barber out there a couple plays a game just to help save AG for the long haul. 2-4 touches for him to give Gibson a rest and keep him healthy equates to 20-40 less touches for AG the rest of the season and less chances to get injured..

    3 hours ago, SpacePenguin said:

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't see the need to run him into the ground. Granted, Barber is pretty pedestrian, but McKissic is no slouch. Letting them split carries seems like a good idea to me.

Agreed, Mckissic feels like a another version of AG. And unlike CT I dont get worried about Mckissic's health cause he just comes off like a tougher player who doesn't mind getting hit and bounces right back up.. I want him on this team..

Stats for pass rushers must evolve or be better highlighted by the media and fan base. For example, Young forced an INT in the game yesterday, but this will not get attached to his stats and is just left to our memory. Or factoring in a forced INT in a game the Giants passed 19 times for 112 yards with many of the passes being out within 2.5 seconds. The plan appeared to not let the Washington Dline dominate and unfortunately the offense was unable to put any pressure on the Giants offense to get out of the mediocre zone.

I agree things like that will get ignored. You know whats not getting ignored the fact that the Giants defense went out there and won that game for them on Sunday. The two turnovers they forced lead to 14 points and that crappy offense of theirs only needed to put up 6 points and it was enough for the W.. All I've heard most of the season about NY is how good their defense is and they basically keep them in games and almost win them for them. You don't hear that about our defense. Somehow statistically they are putting up respectable numbers in terms of opposing QB rating and sacks this season. All I see is the fact they are still giving up, until the giant game, 30 pts per game...

Sure some of that is the offenses fault, but good defenses overcome bad offenses..

I will say this as well. Maybe Chase's story goes like this..

Better for sure, similarly to how our defensive line is better for the investment.

For me the standard for a defense was the '92 and '04 defenses.. Yes '91 was amazing but when you have an offense like we had in 91 that was spotting the D so many points in the game it does make things easier for the defense. But in '92 and '04 our offenses stunk and our defenses were asked to be on the field more and do more. That '04 team they NEVER gave up 400 yards of defense and over 300 yards 7 TIMES, and NO one scored 30 points on them. Could you name anyone on that defensive line besides Griffin?? I mean even when the offense stunk up the place they STILL rolled out on the field like gangbusters ready to annihilate opposing offenses every possession, they didn't get their heads down. This defense though, they just don't have that mentality.

5 first round picks + a defensive coordinator that is supposed to be legitimate and yet they still get gashed.

Yea I'm officially against investing so much draft capital in the front like this in the future. Still giving up 30 points per game is ridiculous with the talent and nearly half decade we've spent building up this line.. I mean how long are you supposed to wait until you see results?? I mean we're gonna have to start PAYING these guys soon and the question is gonna be are they worth it???
