I was a big fan of us drafting him. He was to be used as a Terry Orr style H-back. He had such good hands and ability to get open even though he didn't have a ton of speed.

Norvulous screwed him up when he was hired. He tried changing him to a straight up FB which he wasn't about. He beefed up and got caught using steroids while beefing up so got suspended. If I recall he ended out with a couple concussions trying to lead block for Norv. He later left and was used correctly by Tennessee.

    RIP!

First off thoughts with his family and respect to them. I remember the short time he was with us he made a couple of plays that made us ask, who is this guy? At least he was able to have a career, not get it shut down by us completely. It was interesting seeing young Redskins fans react to Washington's support of his passing and learning we drafted him.. I wanted to tell them, you know we also drafted Keenan McCardell in '91.

  2. I mean we're gonna have to get rid of some serious pieces of this team, take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure..

Terry, isn't a #1 anymore, we love him, but he's wasting his time here. B Mitch on the post game show talked about how Miami probably schemed to take him out and they succeeded, meanwhile everyone in North America knew you had to stop Tyreek, and we failed miserably. That's what a true #1 does. You can't stop him no matter what you do. Terry deserves to be on a competitor and he might be near retirement by the time we get there.. But I think he's easier to move since his contract was only for a couple years

J.Allen and Payne. They were quiet again today, I get it, they are both playing hurt. If you can find a buyer who'll take on those contracts this should be seriously considered.. 2 elite DT's isn't fixing our defensive whoas. No turnovers forced again.. Just as bad at that category as last year, probably worse..

Offense: I feel we have to earn every yard we get. Sam had a bad day, another pick 6, didn't see any growth in the offense today. We're down 3 scores before they decide to wake up. Sounds like the Heinicke years... Han has 2 catches, is on pace to eclipse his rookie year but he will have played 5 more games to do it. And that's depressing.. No one is talking about him..

Its just depressing seeing so many teams who were as bad or worse than us when Ron took over too see how good they are now and we're kinda right where we were in too many aspects when this started...

And then the posts on this board

    “Omg magic is pissed”

“wow heads are really gonna roll if they’re sending magic out to be the bad cop like this”

    It’s all so tiring

Lets play Magic's Social Media team!!! What will he say next?? ( Insert cheesy 80's game show theme)

    I'll start

" The commanders lost 45-15, when you score 15 and let the opponent score 45 that's not good. When you score 30 points less than your opponent at home that's not good, therefore you lose the game"

( insert cheesy gameshow theme, show off a '87 Tercel behind the big door and the living room set in the corner, and show Magic waving to the crowd surrounded by staff with confetti falling)

  4. I'm not giving up on RR. Simply due to being in SD and knowing what he did for the military out here when he was with the Chargers. Much of his efforts, went under the radar and what he does with the military back home in DC.. Given the coaches we've had in the past, Spurrier, Zorn, etc. I want to see this to the end. We have a major upset every season. We are due one in the coming weeks, and we finally have the QB who can pull them off, yes I'm saying multiple upsets... I just have a feeling...

This isn't Heineke out of nowhere competing with the best and looking average other weeks. Howell is now looking consistently week in and week out, vs good teams and lesser.  He's learning from his mistakes, we know defenses feed off of good QB play, look at the Giants and they've looked like dog s*** since Rum Ham Devito took over. Whose gonna be motivated to be lead by a guy who doesn't make his own bed, lives with his mother and does no chores around the house???. They know, they dont have a chance, so they don't give the effort they gave against us. They had Tyrod Taylor who was a vet, who could manage games and make a play or too and he didn't have to do much.

Even THIS defense has to eventually get it together, feed off of what Howell is doing and they do their part and get it together vs a legit team. They've been teasing us too many times this season to lose all these close games.. Eventually you pull off a couple of surprise wins... I refuse to live the negative narrative.. I still feel this team can surprise the league the make the playoffs. Win the next 2 and its a whole new ball game..

  5. No moral victories. Geno Smith throws for a career high in yards..

    The defense, moving on..

Sam is our guy, but we need new receivers, I feel they had to work harder for their yards than Seattle did..

4-6. Not a good place to be. Onto NY, I mean come on you gotta win that by like at least 21 right?

  6. 49er and Bears fans sound like us when we paired at Young with Sweat in '20. That 1st game vs Philly we all thought we'd put together a freakish line that was gonna go down as one of the greats, be in the conversation with the "85 Bears and those 80's Giants teams, the 90's Eagles and many other great defenses.. It never worked out.. They never came close.. What a failed experiment.. I mean truly epic.. GL to CY in San Fran..

He started off by saying if you haven't played sports at a high level then you shouldn't talk about it as a profession and you know that was gonna get Grant all hot and bothered but both sides were respectful.  I think the elephant in the room was that Chase's dad might listen to Grant's show because to me he seemed like he was talking about Grant without singling him out.

The dad in him came out which I understand, he was protecting his son but he claimed that teams won't run to Chase's side and that Chase is like Deion Sanders in that he takes away half the field.  There were some good points, some shaky ones, and some fantasy but it was worth a listen.

I don't think Chase is going anywhere, if anyone is going its probably Sweat, hes the finished product at 27 with no injury issues and is the safe bet. You are gambling with Chase and his knee, and I think the team still believes he can develop further and I think the asking price would be higher for him than Sweat...

Just listened to Chase Young's dad call into the Grant and Danny show, that was interesting.

I agree, dad played the I played, you didn't card, but he was thoughtful and had some great takes.  But I mean there are HoF coaches who never played the game that can command an entire room.  I hated the fact those 2 kept interrupting his dad during the interview. I was surprised he kept his cool . That being said I'm definitely a fan of his dad..

  9. I was curious what Green meant by help. Is it coaching. Is it scheme? Is he constantly being left on an island and not getting safety help? I mean I remember the TD he gave up to Brown in the 1st Eagle game where he got the taunting penalty we had both linebackers covering Goedart and Cam Kurl came up to help on him too? Why in the world were we triple covering the TE on that play and leaving the rookie on AJ Brown that play?

I feel there is a cancer in the defense, it needs to be removed, I don't think its just JDR either..

To confirm, was Clark considered a top 3 wr in any season here?

What I saw today was one of maybe 3 players at WR that are not only great WR's, but absolutely freaks of nature and matchup nightmares.

We accept them players like this exist in the NBA we call them ungaurdable.

    In '91 Clark was.

2nd in the league in yards (1340 only behind Michael Irvin) 3rd in Avg per catch ( 19.4)

  11. I'll give credit to the Oline, sure that 1st sack that sealed the game sucked but given how they've played all year, we can work with this the rest of the year and not break that sack record. I've been super hard on them but they played well today, you couldn't pay a fan today to say otherwise..

Howell is our guy, missed a couple of throws but you take this kinda performance every week.

Terry, I mean these have to be the first drops I can remember in his career, sure they weren't perfect throws but based off many of the crazy he had no business making the catch on such and such plays in the past.. He should have made 1 of those catches.

Running game, I'm sick of running outta the shotgun..

Defense, 38 points, Eagles had their fewest rushing yards in a half in what years and they still ended up ahead 38-24 on the scoreboard and it should have been worse.. Its the Eagles though.

No moral victories, we did nothing with it last time..

3-5 and the team isn't treading upward, except at QB.

Last week Dotson was persona nongrata round here, now we don't need Terry anymore?

I think some people are entertaining some ideas when they see what a true #1 WR can do when we see AJ Brown tear us a new one everytime we play him. He's put together an entire season of Terry's work in half a season, on a running team..I think with Terry, we have an Art Monk, but we need a Gary Clark..

Brian Robinson only running the ball eight,  nine,  10 times a game,  is ridiculous.

Mark Schlereth made a great point about the running game and runnin out of shotgun on some beat writers YT page.. He basically said, " I timed it out and it takes the RB .4 seconds longer to get to the line running out of shotgun than when he lines up behind the QB and takes the handoff with forward momentum. That's a half second longer the line has to hold their blocks, you put your oline at a disadvantage.."

We dont have Thurman Thomas back there taking handoffs either, you have bigger backs that need that momentum. Thats a good contributor to our crappy running game..

  14. I mean, we're staining the name " The Hogs" with this group. Its so bad, we're half way to breaking the record for sacks allowed and we're not even half way to the season. The Hogs was OUR THING, and now its its gonna be associated with a group of guys who not only will break that record but shatter it. Gates?? I've never heard of an Olineman that doesn't wear gloves or tape or anything, you figure he's all sweaty out there and dlineman just slip off of his arms simply because theres no friction on him to stop them..

I'm done with these receiver's cept for Terry. You can get a UDFA, or bring back Trey Quinn or Adam Humphries to catch 4 yard stick routes with no YAC that Samuels is doing and save some money, watch his Carolina highlights, he's doing nothing of the like this season with us. Dotson, No YAC plays, a big drop late, everyone has forgotten the clutch catch he made vs Philly. IDK is this kid gonna be Michael Wesbrook or Vincent Jackson where we'll have to wait till his 4th or 5th year to see him breakout?? Dyami Brown, not even worth mentioning. Give me some Byron Pringle, he seems to make some kind of impact in the limited snaps he gets

EB- No running game, maybe it has to do with the line but I just want to see old school I-formation with a FB and use some misdirection or something and make things easy on Howell... Norvs teams could be awful but he would have games with Terry Allen where he was their only weapon and the whole stadium knew he was getting the ball and Allen could run it on the best defenses in the NFL sometimes, see vs Dallas in '95. I remember how hyped we were in '06 when we brought in Al Saunders from KC to fix our crappy O to compliment our LEGIT good defense but the offense still sucked. The following year though they showed drastic improvement, they weren't the KC teams he coached but it was better..

Defense - I mean its the same story, slow starts, they look good in the 2nd half but the opposing defense always looks better than them. But you give up 14 points it should be enough to win.. But when your up against practice squad guys and you got guys making more in one paycheck than they'll make the entire season Tyrod Taylors stat line should have looked like 11-26 107 yards 1 td 2 ints 2 fumbles, 1 lost.. And that 1st sack by Chase Young, was that not the most awkward SACK EVER it was like, " Ok I got you, you can go down now, nope you want me to help you down?? Ok, and there he's down" And then Chase celebrates by himself, you dont see guys swarm him and get hyped either..

At the end of the day it is the NFL, Buffalo loses to New England. Cleveland, who dominated the 49ers gives up 38 to the Colts. Atl beats TB in their crib. Miami only scores 17 in Philly supporting the theory they can only beat scrub teams, and Detroit only puts up 6 points vs Baltimore.

So much dam parody in the league, when you win you dont get too hyped about it, when you lose, dont beat yourself up too much.. I will say this though, screw moral victories cause that Philly loss did nothing for us..
