How do they NOT FIRE someone after this debacle!
Because they don't have anyone on the staff who could do a better job.

This team plays hard but not smart.
They need to learn that instead of bashing their heads against a door, they can just turn the doorknob

Anyone want to place a bet on us winning that week? No chance this game is called down the middle...

I hate watching Del Rio's defense so much

A pick sure would be nice right about now

Defense came in hot.
Since the Forbes ejection they look like they're afraid to hit someone

Ah yes. Time for the weekly "commentators, fans, and even officials are mystified by that call against the Commanders" segment.
Tune in 3 days from now when the league says it was the incorrect call in a gesture that does absolutely nothing for us.

I’ve always believed if something is rigged, the outcome is known and determined by outside forces.
So maybe a different definition of rigged.
I also don’t think it’s rigged with any definition of rigged….
My counterpoint would be that if you went to a casino that used rigged decks, it doesn't mean you still couldn't win the occasional hand, but you would win significantly less than you would if the game was allowed to play out normally and without interference. And if the casino is presenting the odds as one thing and in practice they are something different, that's not fair to the consumer.

Ok.
we won?
That doesn't mean the refs weren't unevenly enforcing penalties to make an uneven playing field. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive

Can you explain why you‘d watch a rigged sport? It's still entertaining, and sometimes, it's rigged in our favor. I can still appreciate players trying hard and making athletic plays. I just can't ignore the amount of influence the refs are allowed to have. I have no desire to wager on games despite every other commercial telling me it's essential in order to enjoy the game to the fullest.

This isnt an issue of whether this sack warrented a flag.
The biggest horse**** part of this was that Washington originally recovered the ball and it looked like it might be a turnover. So the refs threw a flag to make sure the turnover wouldn't count.
The refs panicked and threw a flag because they needed the score to stay close. Then had to come up with a reason for the flag so they picked something subjective like roughing the passer so New England could keep the ball.
Not suprisingly, they swallowed their whistles the next play when Forbes would have intercepted the ball as well if not for the OPI.
It's all rigged.

Just saw the Young news. No big loss.
If we need someone to run and clap along the sidelines on GameDay, we've still got Major Tuddy right?

It's not just the refs, it's ALL scripted?$$$

Your right. The NFL definitely wasnt invested in the Jets this offseason. The certainly don't want them to remain competitive in case Rodgers can come back in time for the playoffs. 😉

I kind of doubt anything could interfere with their ability to make money, it’s more that they have no reason to spend the money to change something that isn’t costing them money.Oh I'll agree with that for sure.
I'll still watch every Sunday and root for Washington to win. but I'm definitely not going to be wagering any money on any NFL product that's for sure.

They make untold billions and admitting there’s something wrong with the current system is not in their interest, neither is spending a ton of money to draw peoples’ attention to how bad it is if they don’t h have to. Your mistake is in thinking that a bunch of billionaires and their corporate partners have “integrity of the game” as a top priority instead of just making the most money possible without rocking the boat. They aren’t trying to curate the most accurate and perfectly reffed games. They’re trying to make the most money while spending the least money. Their product is more popular and profitable and trendy every single year. What would lead them to think they need to change, exactly?
You could even make the argument that it is not against their interest to let fans of clearly inferior products take solace sometimes in the idea that they’re just being screwed by the refs, rather than supporting a team that doesn’t deserve their money.
So you're basically saying the owners don't have any motivation to prioritize the integrity of the game? Because it could interfere with their ability to make money?
but think fans who have the audacity to question the fact that the current system could be misused to profit shouldn't be taken seriously?
BTW, I don't think that refs solely make bad calls in Washington games. The bad calls in Washington games are just the only ones I care about.

Refs being bad at their job and under-policed, and the league and their media affiliates not wanting to draw too much attention to that, is not the same as saying the league is questionable/fixed/rigged/illegitimate etc.The thing that stinks is the reffing. Calling the NFL half a step above the WWE is exactly the sort of dumbassery Jumbo is talking about. It’s easily explainable and requires no conspiracy or sketchiness at all. Just run-of-the-mill incompetence and self-interest.
The argument could be made that with a company that makes as much money as the NFL does, their decision to not fund full time referees, not fund technology that would allow computer chips to spot the ball consistently, and eliminate human bias on subjective calls seems inexcusable.
Unless they benefit from that subjectivity because it allows them to have an influence on the flow of the game.
They have the financial means and the tools to eliminate this issue. They're making a conscious decision not to.

For the conspiracy dummies who think it’s about us and not terrible reffing:
It’s almost every game
You think that's maybe because people bet on EVERY game, not just Washington ones?

Game Day Thread ~ The Commanders vs. The Giants - A Giant Opportunity!

Jay had notoriously terrible luck with injuries, absolutely no talent on defense, and Snyder and Bruce calling the shots behind the scenes.
There's no doubt in my mind of he had the current roster it'd be an instant upgrade.
