  1. As I said, I'd like to see Campbell get a shot after watching Yaya Sanogo flop around on the pitch for the second half of last year and fail to produce a single moment of quality vs BOREHAM WOOD (a club in the ****ing Conference South) last week.

  2. You fellas are harsh on these youngsters. I'm not saying these players are world-beaters I'm just saying that they have flashed great potential and could end up making real impacts for their respective squads.

If you want to degrade their abilities/accomplishments, so be it. I'll stick to admiring and rooting for them.

  3. Your assessment is a bit harsh. After that first match vs Uruguay, Costa Rica relied a bit too heavily on him, which didn't suit him as ball retention is far from his greatest asset. I think he will provide a spark off the bench and prove to be quite useful in terms of depth in the FW department.

And by the way, he played at Lorient (Ligue 1) 3 seasons ago, Real Betis (Liga BBVA) 2 seasons ago, and Olympiakos (Greek Superleague) this past season.

  4. Joel Campbell? Maybe as a winger with his pace but he's not making it at the top level as a centre forward. At best he gives you enthusiasm off the bench but I'm surprised Arsenal are still persevering there TBH.

If last season was any evidence at all, AFC need depth on the wings. As soon as Walcott and Ramsey went down, we had no pace on the flanks because we had to move the Ox into central midfield.

And on the whole "Campbell won't cut it as a CF in the Prem", I don't see why they shouldn't at least give him a try.. He's 5'10'' and fairly strong with some great technical ability and a deadly left foot. I think he'd surely beat the hell out of Yaya F****** Sanogo up there backing up Giroud.

  5. Where we watching different Belgium games?

I don't believe we were. I wasn't insinuating he dominated play or anything. He certainly looked raw but he certainly flashed, though. There's no denying that. One of the better true young CF prospects I saw over the course of the past year, for sure. Quite jealous the reds managed to snag him as well as Markovic.

We have a similar promising player in Campbell coming back into the squad this season. Hoping Wenger will give him a good run this year. If not in the Prem, in the league cup and FA.

  6. Divock Origi becomes #LFC’s sixth signing of the summer so far… #OrigiLFC pic.twitter.com/s1WSSofZw2

"Origi arrives at Anfield having been tracked by the club since his days playing for the Belgian U15 national team."

^Quote from the LFC press release

Right, that's why they waited until after the World Cup so they could pay about 4 times the fee they would have paid before...

  7. I'm seeing on Sky that Arsenal have been backed in from 8/1 to 3/1 to sign Paul Pogba but not seeing anything on Twitter or any of my other go-to rumor mill sources...hmm...

  8. Or they won't care and just promote from their youth ranks.

They've received around £100M in selling Chambers, Lallana, Lambert, Lovren, and Shaw. Already bought Dusan Tadic. Hard to imagine they won't bring in some fairly decent replacements.

  9. Scandalous goings on down the South Coast. Hell knows what you'd think if you where a fan it

or player. The mere stupidity of not replacing as they've gone along is mind boggling enough. Now they need half a team or so and everyone knows they have a shed load of money so the price on anyone just got highly inflated for them.

Never considered the thought that selling teams will be jacking up the prices on them. Very good point.

  10. Just giving my opinion on what I see. Don't consider myself to be a scout by any means. Here's a good statistical comparison of the two on a per-90 min basis:

Fairly clear that Chambers is a better contributor on the defensive end.

  11. not tryna be a dick, but how often have you watched Chambers play?

I only watched him once, against Arsenal back in February, and he looked excellent. Stood out more than Shaw did.

Watched City, Tottenham (where he got subbed in at half for Clyne, I believe), LFC and our match. Could be some others I'm missing...I've also watched the proverbial Youtube highlights which never show any negative plays and focus more on attacking rather than defending (which isn't incredibly helpful).

  12. I'm not a LeBron hater, but dude is really starting to get full himself. Was anybody really sitting on the edge of their seats to know what number he was gonna wear?

And no, Jordan's number should not be retired league wide.

Well you're interested enough to respond and discuss it. I cared enough to copy and post the tweet here for some reason. Aesthetics do matter, I guess. Number 6 is really a god-awful number.

  13. Ive read a lot of Saints fans rate Chambers higher than Shaw.

Shaw's advantage is that left back is a more premium position than right back. I just dont want Chambers to get Phil Jones'd. He needs to master one position.

The difference in the quality of player is evident to the naked eye as far as Shaw vs Chambers, if you ask me. Shaw just has that extra touch of class.

I agree with you about not kicking him around too much to try him out at different positions and btw, I think we'll see Jones settle in at CB this year in LVG's 5-3-2. Chambers could end up being good insurance if TV5 leaves then we'd still have Jenko or Bellerin to back up Debuchy if all else fails.

  14. Hopefully. Although I think it's fair to say Shaw's potential >>> Chambers' potential at this point so the glaring difference in fees is somewhat justifiable from Manure's perspective (but still, LOL :P ).

The English mark-up is a hard pill to swallow, for sure. Although I will say again, I really do like Chambers' versatility. Could end up playing CB or CDM at this point. He's still in a phase of his career where he can be molded a bit more.
