I'm still not sold on EB, so I don't really care that much. I think he's an improvement and pretty much what we needed, but he's not the future.

Not trying to be thick, or argumentative, but I just don't understand this way of thinking. And I know you've done quite a bit of coaching over the years, so you are a perfect person to explain this.

I've read all the stories about Bienemy's interviews and his personal baggage which possibly kept him from the HC position with every team he interviewed with this past year. And that's why he made the lateral move to us as the Asst. HC/OC. So, he is here making his bones and proving to us and the rest of the NFL that he's just as good a play caller as Andy Reid. For God's sakes, it was HIS offense Andy was calling.

Results are results. I don't want to get ahead of myself, because it's just 2 games, but the parallels are glaring. He worked with Mahomes since he was a pup, and developed him from a truly gifted, athletic college QB into the cyborg we see today. It seems he's doing the same with Sam who is also truly gifted and athletic. His offenses mask weaknesses in his team while exposing and capitalizing on weakness in the opposing defense. His scripts are easy to understand and give quite a bit of latitude to a smart QB/smart receivers to adjust according to coverage. Hell, we finally have a working screen play! Not only is it working, but it's beautiful. He coaches them on timing and assignments until they are perfect. Not only is he detail oriented, he demands perfection. And in the process of repetition, he has them in shape enough to mount a 32-point comeback at mile-high in the second game of the season. Not to mention, the two-minute drill which doesn't just net us points, but reclaims the momentum, while restoring our fight and confidence.

So, only two weeks in and we are on the correct trajectory. Let's say we do stay healthy and reach 10 and 7, or even 11 and 6. Do we just toss EB for some unknown? Or do we make him the new HC? And for DC, if we reach 11 and 6, do we keep JDR? Or go for a different DC? I totally agree with you about a GM and the rest of the head-shed though. The HC can't be the GM. Your thoughts please.

Edit: Sorry KB. I got the coaching thing mixed up between you and KD.

  2. Yes, I am being consistent. Last year Wentz just flat out sucked. At no point was our offense 'absolutely humming' in the first two games with him under center. My 2-thumbs-up was agreeing with your post there about the total O collapse.

We are not even in the same galaxy this year with EB and Howell. And the only 'garbage time' padded stats in this last game came from Denver in the 4th quarter. Not from Howell and EB. To add another point, we should have scored on our first drive of the game with an easy field goal' but Cheesed**k screwed up the snap. At the time, I called it and said "we should have scored a TD because this asshat will cost us the FG". And he did.

Your definitions of absolutely humming and garbage time is what I have an issue with.

What was Daron Payne's injury?  Any word on him or Cosmi?

In another thread someone posted how happy and relieved they were when Payne came back out onto the field. Hoping that means he was just bruised. I didn't like the look of frustration I saw on his face as he limped off the field.
Cosmi came back in after a few plays.

Gibson is good in space. That move he put on that one run(or screen can't remember)was quite nifty. Just gotta get him away from the traffic. Good on Bienemy for figuring that out pretty quick. Robinson was running like a grown man playing against boys today. He has that look and feel of a guy who gets stronger as the game goes on.

This. I think Robinson looked and ran like Tim Hightower today.

I think you have to count 4 specialists now counting the return man. Whatever offensive position that guy plays is semi irrelevant. If you have position flex you gain a spot, if not, you have 49 roster positions.

    So, my thoughts

    First, the locks:

    QB (3): Howell, Brissett, Fromm

    RB (3): Robinson, Gibson, Rodriguez

WR (5): McLaurin, Dotson, Samuel, Brown, Pringle

    TE (3): Thomas, Turner, Bates

    T (3): Leno, Wylie, Lucas

G (4): Cosmi, Charles, Paul, Stromberg

    C (2): Gates, Larsen

    That is 23.

DE (4): Young, Sweat, Jones, JSW

DT (4): Allen, Payne, Mathis, Ridgeway

LB (4): Davis, Barton, Hudson, Mayo

CB (5): Forbes, Fuller, St Juste, Johnson, Holmes

S (5): Curl, Forrest, Reaves, Martin, Butler

That is 22. So 45 total.

    K (1): Slye

    P (1): Way

    LS (1): Cheeseman

    Return (1): Milne (ugh)

That is 49 total. That leaves me with 4 roster slots.

I think Tinsley (WR), Henry (DE, draft pick), Obada (flex), Daniels (OT, draft pick).

I think this is pretty close to dead on except I would ditch Fromm, leaving 5 roster spots. Daniels and Scott (OT's), Armah (FB/TE), Obada and Henry. Henry was pretty well scouted during the draft, so I don't think he would clear waivers. Once we can IR Mathis, I would sign Jones Jr or Burgess from the PS. I think RB Williams is still eligible for PS even though this is his 7th year, though I may be mistaken.

I think Tinsley made a strong case for the roster, but since they are so deep at the position, he's going to wind up on the PS.  Burgess made a strong case with that nice INT

Totally agree with this. I think Tinsley makes it ti the PS while Burgess and Quan make the roster as safety and DB, or vice versa. How ever they label them.

Fromm might deserve it, I just can't justify the roster spot

    I'm talking about for Brissett

I didn't know when I posted this that Fromm has been around the league for a while. And although he's looked good for us in the last two PS games, I think the league knows what he is already. Therefore, I agree with not taking the roster spot for him. I'm guessing you were joking about Brissett, but damn, he's looked worse than Sexy Rexy here lately, lol.

If we can score more points than most of the other teams we play, we should win a lot of games.

Yeah, I agree that was a Cpt. Obvious quote, lol. But just by looking at last year's team stats of the regular season, we just need roughly 11 more points per game, and appx. 100 more yards per game to match the Chief's offensive production. So, in a vacuum, 11 more points per game and the defense getting no worse, we should win the SB. One can dream I guess.

Realistically chances are much higher that he ends up just that... again, still a huge win and yet should be pretty easy for the org to understand that it still needs a starter QB. Ultimately we all hope we have hit the jackpot of-course.. and we are due just from sheer luck perspective, but i have little faith in this FOs ability in finding a franchise qb. While Howell has looked good in preseason against mostly backups... the enthusiasm on this board is over the top.

I don't see how a bottom third QB is still a huge win. Especially if we still have to stay in the hunt for a starting/franchise QB in perpetuity.

Kendall Fuller is really interesting to me. Keim said on his podcast a few days ago that he thinks he knows what’s going on with him but didn’t want to say anything until he knows for sure. This is in reference to him not playing at all in the two preseason games.

He practiced against the ravens so I know he’s not injured but Keim alluding to there being “something” has me wondering if they’re trying to keep him healthy for a potential trade.

I know it’s been thrown around here some but I personally hate that idea. We have really good depth at corner and safety overall but BSJ has shown injury concerns his first two years and I think Quan still needs some seasoning before significant playing time. Fuller isn’t all world but he has been durable and a strong player for us. We finally have the secondary to pair with our dline that should give guys like sweat the extra moment they need to get home.

I doubt fuller fetches anything more than a fifth rounder at most given he’s a little older and just doesn’t have the name recognition. I think he’s worth more than that to us to stay and provide more flexibility and depth (yes he’s a starter but in terms of injuries to other corners).

I know this is just speculation on Keim's part, but after re-watching the Washington/Baltimore game tonight, I wonder if the Ravens might be interested in a player trade with us for Fuller. Their secondary is currently decimated by injuries, and they need a starting corner pronto. Meanwhile they have some very good depth at interior linemen, and even at tackle. One of which, David Sharpe, used to be a Redskin. At the very least, they might be willing to trade one of their TE's who showed well against us last night. Just curious to see what people think about Baltimore being the source of Keim's speculation, and if there is anyone on their roster worth trading a quality starting corner like Fuller for.

  11. Hey ES'ers. Good to be back with all the hopes and dreams for a good year. Got my fingers crossed that we can finally put an end to the sad purgatory that has been the Snyder era and move on with new ownership. Just did my first mock draft and it's also gonna be my last because everything clicked and I would be very happy if it ended like this. Had at least 5 trades starting in the 3rd round.
