It's usually five years, but the NFL allows an exception in cases where the ownership changes. I think HOG wants to get it right and maybe they'll focus on that more now that the draft's over. Harris is not stupid and he must have seen that report showing the 'Manders ranked #31 in merchandise sales out of 32 teams.

It's possible that Quinn's t-shirt FUBAR from a couple weeks ago was no accident, either. HOG may be testing the waters for bringing back the old uniforms and logo, if not the name itself.

Got my DQ W-feather shirt Tuesday. Doesn't say commanders on it anywhere. It's my first gear since the name change and I love it. I will never, ever buy a piece of merchandise with the name commanders on it. Hell, I really don't even like to type the name for this post. I'm sure there's many like me that feel the same way, and I'm sure that Harris is keenly aware of it. He's never let us down since the jump, and I'm sure that he will fix this too. I have all the faith in the world in this ownership group to get it right.

There's nothing wrong with being excited.

There's nothing wrong with being on the hype train. Just because I'm being more tempered doesn't mean others can't be on that particular train.

What's wrong and what I don't like is lying about it.

He admitted to being on the hype train and wanting others to get on as well. (Again, which is fine, but don't lie about it after saying it)

I understand what you are saying. But the majority of the last page is you kicking everybody in the shins who happen to see and comment on the seemingly excellent camp that JD is having. We get it! you have a wait-and-see approach. Koolness. I for one, was a Maye fan pre-draft, and was slower to come to the JD-love-him table than others on this board. I am totally bought in now. In fact, I can't see us even being at this point in early camp had we chosen Maye.

Sure, it's nice to hear he's dedicated and working hard. But that's different than seeing how he actually plays when in a live NFL situation, which is the actual test. I could study for an exam really hard but if I still fail the actual test then my study habits didn't mean much.

So, again, nice to hear he's looking good and working hard. But I don't care overall. Just like I wouldn't care if it was reported that he was struggling. I want to see how this all translates onto the field, because at the end of the day that's all that matters.

And what will you do if he struggles in games? Will you say "****, I guess the nice camp reporting was crap, he's a bust"? No, then you'll probably be singing the same tune as I am currently: "We need to give him time to judge"

I get it. You're caught up in the hype. Because you want to be. I remember getting caught up in the RG3 hype as well. I'm not saying Daniels is RG3, but I remember the great reports about RG3 at camp and how I was all aboard the hype train. I've decided to temper myself and simply wait for what actually matters before making any judgement good or bad: real live NFL games

RG3 wasn't hype his rookie year. We saw it then, as we see it now. But, JD looks even more impressive than RG3 did, so I expect more. Thus my prediction of 10 and 7.

Raise Hail is just excruciatingly awful anyway

I'm gonna stop short before I cross any lines here, but I get the feeling that Raise Hail implies much more than just a cute semi-iconic idiom by including the word Hail. As in, raising HTTR out of the dustbin of history and making it relevant again. Obviously not with our proud Native American Chief logo of 100+ years, but with something truly symbolic to our organization. And not the sanitized douchebaggery of Commanders, which fails on every level to reach anyone's true love for this team. I think it implies something good is coming for us fans in the form of a brand, and will once and for all, put a stake through the heart of that wretched dark lord, and eradicate the Snyder name from this organization for all time. Harris has NOT failed us.

I figured as much, but I'd like to hear of hires (many hires, actually) to our scouting dept.

It's been one of the smallest and least resourced in the league. To me, that's a huge need and I'm hoping AP prioritizes it. The silence is worrisome.

Ever since this post, the flood gates have opened. Keep up the good work!

Not sure where you were looking but this came out the same night the schedule was released on the Commanders website. It shows all 3 preseason games. I always look for this every year so I can make it as my laptop's background. Easy to refer to every week. 🙂

    image.png.3cccfc80fdc411b071ce05e41f31abfe.png

What I meant was that I could swear that THIS ES page had the same tool-bar as the team page, and now it doesn't. Maybe I'm mistaken because I had many pages open leading up to and following the draft. Somebody let me know if I'm wrong about this and I will consider slowing down my gummy consumption, lol.

Type in " 2024 Washington commanders preseason schedule" into google. It shows last year's schedule and this year's schedule. It shows Dallas from last year, then us vs Miami. Then us vs NE. Both preseason games. Then immediately shows us vs Tampa Bay week 1. I have checked multiple sources too 🤷

Up until a few weeks ago ES had the same header bar as the team site, with schedule, roster, news, video, etc. For some reason it's gone now. I wonder if it has anything to do with the front office and JW? I hate when updates to apps and websites move us backwards into the stone-age instead of making things easier.

Everyone can have their skepticism and paranoia related to his physique and let that dictate their fandom if they want to.

Personally, it been too long since we’ve truly had an organization worth rooting for.  I’m going to marinate in the fluff and feel really good about the kid loving football and the impact that could have on this team.  Whatever happens, happens - but I’m going to do my best to be a fan about it, until it’s obvious I shouldn’t be.

Honestly I meant it when I answered CITR's poll question about preferring Maye but supporting Daniels if he's the chosen QB at #2. And the more I see him move, see his quick smooth release and tight spiral, the more I am comfortable we chose correctly. My biggest hang-up was his build. Specifically having spindly legs. But his off-season weight room dedication is obvious. He's put on significant mass in his legs and to me, it's no longer an issue. I am very excited to see JD being able to start working on day one with routes and timing with his receivers, and not to have to waste the time working on his foot-work. He looks very polished from the jump.

Its been a long time since he was solid in '15 and good in '16.

Wow. You should run to Vegas and bet the higher total options on win totals if you believe that. Betters are taking the over on 6.5, you could get a HUGE pay out on an O/U of 8 or 9 compared to the current odds on 6.5 (I think -115 to -130). I would bet you could get +300 or +350 at least on over 9.5, maybe +400 to +450.

I have us at 5.5 but I'm in a minority, and I think Vegas was probably smart to put it at 6.5 as my expectation is 5-6 wins.

It's funny that you said this about the over/under Vegas odds. I was just thinking last night that I would throw a few bucks down on the over, but at 6.5 wins and nothing more. I don't want to jynx anything, or press my luck on betting a feeling versus Vegas wisdom. No reason to make the line any harder than 6.5

    I think that’s a bit aggressive.

We also have a new HC, new coordinators and schemes on both sides of the ball, a rookie QB, and other holes on the roster.

Let’s face it:  what Peter’s did in FA was essentially sign a whole bunch of B/C level guys to one year deals because Ron left the cupboard entirely bare.  And there was no way to solve all the problems in one draft.

If the season started today, you would have Lucas and Wylie as the starting tackles.

I think this team is going to play hard and be exceptionally well prepared.  But there is also going to be a learning curve.  For everybody, because every system is new.

i hate to play the record game because there are so many variables, but I think they’re probably between 7-9 wins.  And I would take closer to the 7 than the 9.

Could they get to 10? Sure.  But that would also have to probably coincide with the e complete collapse of either Dallas or Philly, and the other taking a bit of a step back also.  If you’re going to get to 10, you have to at least go 3-3, maybe even 4-2 in division.

We were 0-6 last year in division.

I agree with you that it's aggressive and it would be safer not to go out on the limb and just stick with a middling win count of 7 or 8 games. But if that was the goal of DQ and AP, we NEVER would have signed Bobby Wagner. He could have stayed in Seattle and made more money and have a better core team around him with fewer holes. Sure, his QB would be Sam Howell, but his coach wouldn't be Apathy-Ron.

You are also correct about the caliber of talent and amount of holes we had to fill. We are definitely going to have to over-achieve to get to 10 wins and 1 post-season win, but I think it's achievable with the culture change. Just compare this team to 2012 and the amount of talent and change that squad had. 2012 had a better supporting cast at LT and WR and RB. But this roster is close. And it's close to the amount of change that we had in coaching staff, as well as hype for the new QB.

This year is going to be electric. These players and coaches are already feeding off that electricity and it will continue to grow once the fan base is plugged in. It's gonna be like watching RG3 for the first time in game 1 against Drew Brees in NOLA, and with that energy, overachieving will be the by-product.

  11. I expect a 10-7 record which either outright wins the NFC east, or gets us the wild-card game.

We have the inside scoop on every NFC team (at least for this year) with our new coaching hires. DQ and Witt know Dak Prescott's weaknesses inside and out. Brian Johnson knows Jalen Hurts' offense and players, and Bobby Johnson knows the Giants weaknesses. Sure, schemes will change every year, but we'll never have a bigger advantage than we do NOW.

Nobody knows us. Hell, we don't even know us, lol. That in it's self is a big advantage. I expect a similar year to 2012 where we start out slow before the bye, but finish strong thru the end of the season.

We now have coaches who are competent. We can produce players, rather than letting them rot. Weather we sign another OT or WR before the season (which I feel we will do one or both), or go with the players on the current roster, we still have upside in many on this roster. Hell, there's 5-6 O-linemen on the roster that have not been released that could be answers for back-up/rotation, or even a starter at T or G.

We have Larry 'The Weasel' Izzo as our ST coach. One of the best in the business. With the new rule changes on kickoffs, I expect Izzo's impact to be 3+ to 6+ points per game average, which will give us the edge in the close games we usually lose as a rule. When was the last time we blocked a punt, FG or extra point? I can't even remember. I'm sure it was pre-Danny Smith.

I expect the offense to be average or better before the bye, and to finish just outside the top 10. Having competent OC who mixes up the run and pass, along with a dual-threat QB will open up so many more key match-ups because teams will have to use a fast player to spy our QB and play contain on him. At the very least, play-action will be believable.

I expect to start and finish the season with a top 10 D.

And finally, I expect to win at least one post season game for the first time in forever.

It will be fun to come back to this post after the season and see how close it was, or how much of a homer I was, lol. But for once in 3 decades, I have hope.

Don't see too many wide receivers with 4.8 speed in the league nowadays.

Looking at his bio, the 4.8 40time stands out vividly, but watching his catch highlights, that kid is special.

Aiyuk for a 3rd and 1st round CB with 4 more years on a rookie contract...and year supply of milk shakes, burgers and fries for she weight training

I was thinking the same thing. Straight up player swap with no extra pick.

Edit: I still think Forbes can be an outstanding CB for us with some quality coaching. As some here have stated, he's not quite the DQ-mold as far as what Dan looks for because of his rail-thin build, and DQ wants heavy hitters. But he is a healthy 1st round CB with elite traits. He's still worth a 1st regardless of weather he fits OUR new system or not.

    It's a pretty good guesstimate.

Who's your PR if Crowder is cut...Milne, Allen, Dotson? Meh.

I have a hard time seeing Milne and Allen making the team. I feel like Crowders still in.

Could be Kaz Allen, but gut says they keep Crowder instead of Milne

Good question. I'm not high on Morgan at all and although I like Kingsley, I don't at 36, so most likely Ladd, but Nubin is still BPA.

See, I'm kinda opposite in that I would pick Kingsley because the only DB I would take that early would be Kool-Aid if he fell. I would take my chances that if I missed Ladd at 40, I could grab Persall.

I do not want to move up, but a move up, combined with a move back that nets us some more picks in that 75-110 range, would be sweet.

Also, I think BPA for us at 36/40 could very well be Nubins. I usually mostly watch safeties and LBers and I slacked on it this year.

Just curious, if Suamataia, McConkley and Morgan are there at pick 36, Who do YOU take?
