What's so bad about letting the Bucs wear their Bucco Bruce jerseys? The Skins wearing the R helmets? The Patriots wearing there throwbacks? The Chargers wearing more powder blue? None of that has any effect on the play on the field.
The NFL still allows teams to sport throwbacks twice per season, but the one helmet rule made it tough on some teams. I know the Bucs put the kibosh on their creamsicle throwback because wearing them meant wearing their regular helmet with them. That wouldn't look so hot. It's too bad the NFL enacted this rule.

The 2 helmet thing is dumb. Look at Wes Welker. He had a concussion and switched helmets. I remember listening to Cooley talk about this during the season and basically say the players switch helmets during the season all the time. Especially during games if something goes wrong with their current helmet.
Why the NFL is so against throwbacks I have no idea. Every other league has embrassed it except the NFL. MLB, NBA and the NHL do a good job marketing their throwback gear and allowing teams to wear it. Why the money hungry NFL doesn't, I have no idea.
The NFL is the most money grubbing league, but they don't do the whole alternate helmets/9 different uniforms/Oregon type of thing to build strong brand identities and brand recognition with its teams. Their philosophy is that stablility with uni (can only change once every 5 years/limited uni options) and no alternate helmets (throwbacks excluded prior to this season) strengthens the teams identities, and therefore sells more merchendise. For example, as soon as you turn on the TV and see the Redskins playing, you know it's the Redskins. It's not like turning on a Maryland game and having to double take to figure out who is playing. Yeah, the whole thing sounds counterintuitive to the NFL's money grubbing ways, but they are playing the long game and making money that way.

Goodell is a hypocrite. Every QB has a spare helmet on the sidelines in case the headset goes out. So in essence, 2 different helmets will be used. So what is the difference in using two different helmets for different games? A player will wear the same exact "type" of helmet because it's comfortable.
The whole helmet restriction thing is total CYA for the concussions lawsuit on Goddell's part. He'll act like it's for player safety, but then push for an 18 game schedule, thus putting the players in further danger. Of all the big league commishs, he may be the most evil.

It actually would be fine. The issue with the one-helmet rule is that your helmet has to be the same base color, so that it can be repainted without switching out helmets. As long as your concept helmet keeps the same base burgundy color in the background they can easily repaint it.
The issue that the Buccaneers had last season was that the throwback helmets were white, whereas their current helmets are gold. Apparently, they can't just repaint the normal helmets and would have to use different ones for the throwback weekend. That's why Goodell squashed the idea.
Even under the old rules, the NFL wouldn't allow for the alternate helmets. Throwback helmets that a team once wore, were the only second helmet allowed.

Kind of off topic, but I think I'm going to make this helmet for my collection. It would be nice to see the team wear this as a fauxback, but of course the one helmet rule wouldn't allow for it...

I've also heard rumblings of the Patriots getting a new set. At least that is what some are speculating based on their new wordmark.

I still don't get why people don't like the white pants. Smh...
The all white was a nice change up, but if bringing back the red pants means ditching the white pants, I'm all for it.

Stephenb I really like that design. I think it blends tradition with modern very well. Would like to see it with burgundy helmet. I just want to be able to see which one I would like better.
Here is the same design with the dark helmet...

I was playing around with some ideas for new unis, and came up with this...

I like color, I wish the NFL would allow teams with non-similar color schemes to both wear color jerseys. There's no reason the Bears couldn't be wearing orange while the Pack wears green today
Before TV, color on color match-ups were the norm. Black and white TV broadcasts made it hard to tell one team from the other, so the new tradition became that one team would wear white so the viewer could easily differentiate the teams playing.

I guess everyone is reaching for anything that would explain the debacle in the field, including the uniforms and name. Nevermind, they just suck and have won with the name and uniforms in the past.
I hear you man, but for me, it's just something to do Redskins related that isn't about Shanny, Snyder or QB controversies.
I'm on board with a redesign for the new coaching staff/era. I think it's time to either modernize the look or do something completely different (possibly incorporating elements of past uniforms).
If there is enough interest, maybe I can take the ExtremeSkins designs and put it on another webpage and let the fans vote.

Maybe we should/could do some sort of uni redesign contest on this thread?
For me, it'll let me do something relating to the Redskins that's not related to all the drama arond the team.

How about something like this for a new uni?...
Someone on the sportslogos.net forums posted this. Kind of an old-school look, but different from what we are used to.

I really wish we'd come out on Sunday with the White tops and burgundy pants. For old time sake. These gold pants need to be given a rest for a week
I would love that too, but the burgundy pants don't exist....at least they are not an option for this season.

As much as it pains me to say this, I hope the team breaks out the white pants this week against KC. I think going with the gold pants will present us with a great uni match-up, but we need to do something to break up the bad mojo.

Let's try white on white for the sake of something different. It could be the rally uniform like it was in '05.

just a guess, or is that for sure? i thought the team usually wears red jerseys, gold pants for primetime games.
I can tell you for a fact that we won't be wearing the burgundy jerseys tonight....we are the away team and the Vikes will wear their darks, forcing us to wear the white tops. As for the gold pants, that's just my educated guess. Maybe we'll see all-white? Who knows?
-
any guess as to which jerseys/pants the team will be wearing thursday night?
White jerseys with the gold pants.

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate thread to mention this, but where are we gonna start talking uniforms for the possible name/logo change?
If the name does indeed change, I pray we at least keep the logo and colors the same.

They took the stripe off the helmet at the top
This is going to be hideous
Not a good looks at all.

Standard helmets with the throwback jerseys. Showed on NFL network.
We shouldn't even bother with the throwbacks. It should be all or nothing. Do it right, or don't do it at all.

This week is the "Homecoming game"
I wonder if we will wear throwbacks like we did for Homecoming last year.
Nope, the NFL has banned alternate helmets, so the only way we'd wear them is if we wore them with our regular hats. Wouldn't be a good look.
-
It looks like no throwbacks for us this year....or maybe ever!.....

Yeah, their have been several people that say that is their favorite too, but I'm not one of them. Red jerseys, gold pants at home. White and red on the road. That's what I dig.
