What Dan Quinn said about Sam....LOL

“And certainly talent is here also at quarterback, going against Sam through this year and honestly a little bit from last year as well, you knew how talented this player was,” Quinn said. “The arm talent, the ability to create, and that’s what quarterback play is. Off-schedule plays when you can get outside the pocket; not everything is always clean and where you can go. We’re just getting started on the evaluation phase, so when you’re putting a whole program together, there’s free agency and the draft, and you’ll look at all the things to try to make the team better. But, I’m certainly impressed by the competitor that Sam is, that jumped out to me……how tough and competitive he is.”

They are higher than JJ than the other local media for sure.   Speaking of which add JP Finlay to the pile of local-national reporters who don't buy the speculation that they are taking McCarthy at 2.  (Breer, Keim, Finlay, Albright, Pauline in that mix).  Will see.  But am feeling right now its a 2 horse race ala what Keim has implied thus far based on all I listened to this week.

I've heard both Logan and Hoffman recently said they'd go with Maye at #2 after starting the process months back in Daniels corner.  So your comments threw me off.  I was wondering if I am losing my cognitive skills 😎 because I take pride in hearing what is actually being said versus what I want to hear.  So I relistened to their last podcast.

They both said recently in different segments, they'd prefer Maye and give him edge for the #2 pick everything being equal with them both talking.  Logan referenced his take on switching from Daniels to Maye was influenced by getting the Alll 22 tape.

In his last podcast, Paulsen said Maye's ceiling is "by far the highest" among the three QBs and also referenced he had the most big time throws.  But agree that same last podcast was centered on which QB is ready first.  So in that context, they were higher on Daniels and Maye.  They were all over the place on it.  But if that's your main introduction to their takes it would feel more pro Daniels and McCarthy because they were centric on pro readiness.

Although Hoffman said in that same podcast, he's rather have the upside guy even if it takes longer.  Hoffman seems smitten with McCarthy in particular.  So will he goe from Daniels to then Maye and now McCarthy :ols: if so he will run the gamut.

Standig on with Sheehan Friday, said he doesn't get the JJ swirl either so add him to the list of locals scratching their heads.

Keim has said now in three different segments he believes their lean is Daniels.  But also lean is the operative word and they haven't decided.

He's not as plugged in with this group than the past simply because this FO doesn't leak.  So not totally sure where he's getting the lean from.  In his recent podcast he said its because when he asked coaches he trust (I gather from other teams) Daniels has a distinct edge.  But I'd guess it must be a little more than that but I don't know.

Having said that even a lean probably doesn't matter much yet.  The most strong impressions though I get from him is this is more likely a 2 way race not a 3 way race and they are likely sticking at #2

FWIW, not to give too much credence to what the Junks say but couple weeks ago said scouts were leaning Daniels and Quinn/Peter's were not decided.  That's what they (EB/Lurch) heard.

As you said, Peter's is making the decision so no one really knows.

    We'll see.

Right now am guessing the McCarthy stuff is BS.   I'll take it seriously when Keim takes it seriously and maybe it happens but it hasn't yet as far as I can tell.

The way I see this argument framed here is some say on this thread its a no brainer to run with Maye or its no brainer to run with Daniels highlighting that people's favorite attributes about said QB are the correct attributes to care about.  But it feels like apples to oranges.  Both QBs are intriguing for different reasons.

While I personally am in the Maye camp.  I get why some in the league doesn't see this discussion as a no brainer.  Keim seems to be leaning that they are more likely to go with Daniels because when he asked coaches around the league who they like better Daniels has a distinct edge.  But he also said that's not the Washington coaches who are more close to the vest about this.  And they are still digesting this.  So am gathering maybe in a week or two after they digest it more maybe something leaks.

But this team is so tight with keeping things in house we might not know until they actually pick the player

Yeah, Logan weighted 80% tape, 10% combine, 10% pro-day in the evaluation process.  He also said this group got a late start (not a bad thing) due to staff assembly.  He suggested they probably have a 'lean' by now but not decided.

  5. Logan Paulsen early on The Junkies made a good point.  He's going to be listening to what they (Peters/Quinn) say over the next few weeks about the QB position.

    1.  Are they talking like they want a guy to start right away?  That's Daniels or McCarthy according to Logan, more ready.

    2.  Or are they talking about a guy who needs to sit a few weeks before starting?  That would be Maye.

Interesting take from Hasslebeck on Drake Maye.  Measured perspective that he thinks Maye is by far the best prospect in the draft and Maye is a top prospect for the decade.  Wondering if NFL GMs agree and we may have to select between Williams and Daniels.

Good perspective and seen his opinion on many shows.  However, drafting Caleb Williams is really not a "have to".  You run to the podium if that happens.

I heard it but Keim came off neutral to me, like he didn't know one way or another.

Yeah, I wasn't saying that as an absolute but something he did mention.

I will say, hearing from all the local reporters, Peter's and group are very tight lipped and aren't leaking stuff.

Extremely bare, HigSkin.  I know that Peters and Co. have a plan.  What it is we don't know yet but with little available LTs on the FA market maybe they are trying to drive their price up, but the draft has some good ones and it seems like that's the route we will take.  Still, I'd like to see us get a vet.  We don't know what a rook will do.  Leno on a lesser deal might be the best we can do at this time.  We shall see but here is what Spotrac has listed:

It's a cluster for sure.  Hard to see them starting 2 rookie tackles with a rookie QB.

Keim said the other day on a podcast he wasn't sure how interested they were in resigning Lucas so there's a possibility he doesn't fit what they want.

    Wish something would happen!  LOL
