Good lord so many people calling into 980 advocating for passing up on a QB.

Its like people just don't know anything except mediocrity.

How can anyone justify building around Sam effing Howell at this point? I'm sorry, I just don't get it.

Well, I don’t agree with them, but it’s not crazy. A lot can be done with the bounty of picks we could get by trading down. I’m with the crowd that says you have to take a shot at a top rated QB prospect when you have a chance like this. But let’s not pretend it’s not a gamble, the odds of hitting on even the #2 pick at QB are less than 50/50.

  2. Realize we wouldn’t know or care about JW if we didn’t go through the rebrand, but…Major Tuddy and the C name are both pathetic. Embarrassingly bad. Can’t just pin that all on Snyder. I personally trust Harris and company to make the right move here, but also I totally understand those who want him out asap. Can’t wait for free agency to start so we can have something more interesting to argue about!

End the name change tangent. 😑

My apologies Jumbo, I think it was me that started it. I do realize talk of going back to the original name is verboten, but was unclear whether that extends to all name change talk. I won’t do it again.

Would it be OK for someone to start a separate stadium thread about it? With the caveat of no R——— talk, just commanders versus a new name that is more popular with the fans. There are plenty of us that have accepted the fact that the old name isn’t coming back, but still would like to see Snyder’s name go away. Let me know, and I will make sure to follow your guidance moving forward.

  4. Understand that they’ve had bigger fish to fry lately, but I wonder if the owners will say something about a name change now that the hiring of coaches is complete. Since theoretically they will not be meddling in the coaching/GM decisions, there should be plenty of time to at least address the issue and let people know where they stand. Will be interesting to see if they do, because I am getting the feeling that they’re hoping to ignore it until it goes away.

So basically as his QB got good, the OL suddenly stopped sucking. Funny how that works.

Giants OL looked a lot worse than it was similar to ours because their QBs sucked. But they were also absolutely ravaged by injuries last year.

15th, 9th, and then 2nd…when did they “suck”?? Not saying QB improvement didn’t matter, but seems to me he took them from mediocre, to good, to great in three years.

  6. 1. Kingsbury

    2. Kelly

Both of these guys fit the mold of an innovative offensive mastermind that everybody is looking for to work with our new QB. It’s like getting a Ben Johnson or Slowick, but with more seasoning. Both were elevated a little too quickly, straight to the head coach position for their first taste of coaching in the NFL. Predictably, there was some adjusting that had to happen. But with that experience under their belt, either one should be even better now at their specialty, which is cooking up a high powered offense. And they don’t have to worry about the rest of the crap that a HC deals with on a daily basis. I do believe either one is an excellent fit to go with Quinn.

    This needs to be stickied:

Vrabel will not be interviewed by Peters. Vrabel and Titans GM Ron Carthon butted heads. Carthon and Peters are boys from their days together with the 49ers. The well is poisoned.

Please a mod sticky this or something lolol

I hope that’s not the case. If so, it would be a very petty reason not to at least interview the guy.

I know this is off topic. Please forgive me mods. But reports are the Orioles have been sold. What a year for long suffering Redskins and O's fan. We do exist.

Anyway. Im intrigued about Anthony Weaver. As long as as he has a plan for OC.

    Please be true !

Can someone summarize for those of us at work?  Two pages of reading and I'm confused still 😂😂

Sure I can sum it up… There are rumors that Seattle wants Ben Johnson, and will try to close the deal tonight, so we are all freaking out.

I mean you did have QBs who had mobility like Young, Favre, Elway, etc. But like I said their mobility was a bonus and was used primarily to create more throwing opportunities. They weren't overly reliant on it to the point where if they didn't have it, their passing game would fall apart.

And Elway lost several Super Bowls, before finally winning a couple late in his career on the back of a good defense and running game. You can go all the way back to Fran Tarkenton if you want, running quarterbacks win a lot of games just not the Super Bowl.

I wouldn't hate having a Lamar Jackson as my QB, but we'd be battling history. QBs that are that reliant on their mobility to open up the rest of their game just don't have that much sustained success and tend to struggle big time in the playoffs against good Ds/coaches that can take a lot of that away.

I wanna win Super Bowls and typically Super Bowls are won by primarily passing QBs, although having mobility to create is a great bonus(see Mahomes but also guys like Rodgers and Wilson).

True. In this era of running QBs, the best of them—Lamar, Hurts, Josh Allen, Fields, Kyler Murray—have no titles. You can go back 20 years and not find a running quarterback who won the Super Bowl. Maybe Russell Wilson, but I think even he was more of a passer.

This is why nobody wants to share info here. Replies like this...  I'll be back with the official announcement be well.

Have a good day! HTTR HTTC

That is fair but keep in mind the last time somebody on here kept insisting a deal was done before it officially was, he was claiming Bezos would be the new owner. I think people are just trying to figure out whether you are sharing info as you say or just stating your opinion. Either way, thank you for sharing and I certainly hope you’re right!

  13. Appreciate the thread, Ron does not deserve all the piling on that’s happening. Any coach or exec working for Dan Snyder was doomed from the start. They all deserve the benefit of the doubt because none of them are nearly as bad as the Snyder dysfunction made them look on the way out. Obviously he was in way over his head as a GM, but I still think he can be a good coach in the right situation. That being said, I’m so glad we are upgrading!
