This is as good as it gets as far as a narrative in the last 30 years or so.

    A.  Big bad wolf owner who we thought we were stuck with is gone.

    B.  Bad GM and FO gone

    C.  Replaced by an owner by all indications so far is rock star good

    D.  Replaced with a GM who has the best reputation among all available personnel people

    E.  They are loading the FO with All Start evaluators

    F.  They just had a draft with 6 top 100 picks which is insane

    G.  We were aggressive in FA and are still 2nd in available cap space

    H.  We got a HC who seems motivated as heck and has lined up an all star staff

    I.  We finally landed a top pick in a draft that was touted for QB talent

    J.  We got a dude that some think was the best player in the draft at our pick -- we didn't have to trade the world to get him, he was right there at #2.

    K.  That QB is being touted for having a great camp so far, works very hard, is likeable and humble

    L.  The same GM, Peters who most of us touted seems to be in love with Daniels and what he can do for this organization

    M.  Not just Daniels -- we are hearing great things about other draftees

    N.  Players who have been part of the previous regime have said its night and day changed.

Facts. And you could’ve stopped at A and I’d be good. We have hope now. We could lose every game and Jaden be a bust and we are still so much better off. But the fact that B-N are all true is big time icing on the cake. I am bewildered how anyone could not be more fired up than they have been in a long, long, long time. Nothing against any of you who are expressing legitimate concerns, that’s fine, but if there was ever a time as fans to just go all in, this is it! Count me in.

I'm stoked that Snyder is gone, but that doesn't mean things automatically have to get better.  I understand the reasons to be excited, I'm not completely oblivious.  But people are acting like it's a given that things are going to be better...there's just as much of a chance that this new regime won't make it, too.

Of course it does! Snyder‘s absence makes it a given. I can’t even imagine a world where it doesn’t get significantly better. The only argument is how much better. They could lose every game this year and I’d still say things were better. There is nothing lower than Snyder.

Sure, agreed.  But I prefer the handling of it occurring in an honest and upfront manner because that's one of the ways you improve the image of your org league-wide, to stop being the place everyone ****es about in public after they leave.

Snyder is gone. It’s OK to make decisions based solely on football again. You want to improve the image? Winning will do that. Some future free agent isn’t likely going to give a crap how we handled moving on from Sam Howell. If it’s about doing right by Sam, why not release him so he can be free to choose his best offer moving forward? If it’s about football, you get the best draft picks you can regardless of destination, understanding that everybody realizes it’s a business. I believe it was the latter, and I’m glad that’s the case.

  4. Landover works for me since it’s the closest. If it gets us to a new stadium faster, I’m ok with it. Plenty of bars and restaurants have sprung up nearby in recent years if that’s your thing, and there is plenty room for more development, which the state of Maryland seems ready to provide funding for. Not sure if that’s the case at RFK, and also the traffic getting to and from RFK would be worse. I loved RFK and the glory days as much as anyone, but that was the past, and I’m not sure nostalgia is a good reason to force the location there when there is this much resistance. If you’re telling me we can get every bit as good a stadium and surrounding amenities and just as fast at RFK as we can in Landover then sure absolutely count me in, but otherwise take the path of least resistance in Landover and get it done right this time.

There's no way Ron Rivera was even close to Steve Spurrier. Spurrier also had a lot more roster control than people remember.

yeah, but partial roster control is pretty worthless when Snyder is around to randomly intervene and **** everything up. And Ron had more roster control than Spurrier anyway. Plus Spurrier had a lot of funny quotes in press conferences and oh yeah, there was that great game he coached in Osaka! Ron was worse.

Same, I am pretty pissed off about this. I think my rep already knows I will not be quiet about this. I expect to have VIP access to training camp and some sort of make up.

Are these things only for the season ticket holders themselves, or can we gift them to someone? I don’t think I would’ve gone anyway, but would love to pass the opportunity on to other fans who would enjoy it if possible. Regardless, I don’t blame you for being upset. In Sales it’s not a good look to be making promises you can’t deliver on. They knew they’d be renovating, so it definitely feels like a bait and switch situation. The new owners have a very long leash with me for getting rid of Snyder, so I’m not worried about it. But duly noted.

My sister bought it for me online. It's definitely an unsanctioned, bootleg-tee. You have to remember, DQ's shirt was an unsanctioned tee as well. Therefore, every tee vendor that had a whiff of DQ's shirt went and silk-screened their own version that day, and put it online to capitalize on the fever. I'm not sure if DQ's shirt had the name commanders on it, but, mine sure doesn't.

Thanks it was easy to find, there are tons of them for sale! Mine is on the way 😁

Quinn’s shirt did in fact have the c word on it, but plenty are available without it. I’ve must admit I’m surprised, usually the NFL cracks down on this type of trademark infringement I thought.

Got my DQ W-feather shirt Tuesday. Doesn't say commanders on it anywhere. It's my first gear since the name change and I love it. I will never, ever buy a piece of merchandise with the name commanders on it. Hell, I really don't even like to type the name for this post. I'm sure there's many like me that feel the same way, and I'm sure that Harris is keenly aware of it. He's never let us down since the jump, and I'm sure that he will fix this too. I have all the faith in the world in this ownership group to get it right.

Oh, awesome I thought that shirt said commanders. Is it just the taco W and the feathers?? if so, I want one too… Where can I get it?

You don't.  But clearly some people here find it interesting what we dodged -- ditto some who covered this team, it got some podcast and radio play and callers called in to talk about it.  So some do care about the topic at least a little.

of course we care! We have a vested interest now in rooting for Ben Johnson to be a complete failure so that our team can get the last laugh.

Hot dog is definitely a sandwich.

Nobody says they drive a honda car, but you know a honda is a car.

A cheesesteak is definitely a sandwich, but if the place calls it a "cheesesteak sandwich" you know it's going to suck ass. It's just "cheesesteak".

The QB thread is actually enjoyable for once.

😂😂 I agree with all of that (words that you rarely hear on this thread)

Now you're distracting us by introducing a "bun" into the conversation. No one calls it a hot dog "sandwich."

Well, they don’t call it that, but technically that’s what it is. A sausage sandwich made with a hotdog. So to me, a hotdog qualifies as a sandwich just a very skinny one. Appropriate with this being the Daniels thread.

A hoagie is cut on one side and everything stuffed inside. A sub is cut all the way through to make two distinct pieces of bread. A hoagie remains one piece of bread and when properly built, you can wrap both hands around it, without touching anything but bread. Like a wrap.

I don’t think so. Very rarely do I get a sub where the bread is sliced all the way through. Either way, it’s separate slices of bread. Just like conjoined twins are two different people.

my apologies to the board. I told myself I’d never respond to this topic lol.

  13. When he bailed on his interview, while peters and company were on the plane to come meet him, I knew right then and there he was not head coaching material.
It exposed him as both indecisive and unprofessional. Quinn, on the other hand, is an experienced coach and a good people person. He would’ve handled the situation much better and seems way more equipped to handle all that comes with the job. Johnson belongs on the same list with Norv… good coordinator, but not HC material. The bottom line is they made the correct hire here, so the process that it took to get there really doesn’t matter.

I just ate half a wrap that I didn't finish last night (thank you drunk KB). A wrap is a type of sandwich, like a Schmitter or a Hoagie or a club.

Yeah, I have half of a turkey club wrap from yesterday in my fridge. I get wraps for lunch all the time, but honestly, I’ve never called them Sandwiches. The difference is a sandwich has bread on opposite sides, but not all sides. With a wrap, the ingredients are completely wrapped, the difference is the exposure of the ingredients. That’s why a sub, or a hoagie, counts as a sandwich, but a wrap does not.

I think the ownership group is going to wait a few years. Lets see how the team does on the field. If we start winning and Daniels looks like he's the guy, the fans might start buying up merchandise and embracing the name. Everyone loves a winner after all. And if that's the case, rebranding might end up being silly.

Partially true, but there is a decent chunk of fans (myself included) that will never embrace the name. Yeah sure if they win big they will sell a lot of jerseys… But it will never be as many as they could’ve sold with better branding. And don’t forget the new owners are longtime fans of the team just like we are. Odds are they don’t like the name either, so it may not be all about money or taking the path of least resistance for them. The more I think about it, I really think they are just waiting until the new stadium location is finalized before they risk ruffling any feathers.

I think he is saying you don't know where players on the defense are going to be. Like dropping marbles, they could end up anywhere.

Its this. I’m 55 and marbles were already a relic of the past even when I was a kid. I never actually played, but I’m pretty sure you start the game by dropping the marbles so they all land in a random formation.

I mean...you can look back at my post history and everything I said hyping Jayden up pre-draft is ringing true early on. It's all good though, some folks are hesitant to believe and haven't got over RG3 and how he turned out. JD5 was made for this new age NFL. Just like in practice, he'll dominate when the games count as well too.

The main reason a lot of us were hesitant to believe, is about his ability to withstand hits in the NFL. And we still have no idea how that’s going to go. But still, it’s great to hear all of the positive signs about his play and leadership, and I hope you get to continue taking your victory lap about him for years to come! I am definitely convinced at this point that we made the right pick, and just hoping he stays healthy like I would any player.

1.) You got a link? I'd listen to that one.

2.) We had to do a double rebrand last time just b/c of timing, but the idea of doing it again when not forced to is silly.

The team itself would have to buy all unsold commanders stuff (Jerseys, beer mugs, jewelry, calendars) refit the stadium, websites and offices. Millions of dollars... and then do it all over again when its time to move to the real branding. It would be like lighting money on fire. You'd probably have to catch Harris on the booze n drug bender of a lifetime to get it approved.

I work in branding, and if I was in the Washington meeting room of the branding board and the idea of a 2nd double rebrand is floated I'd start going after people.

Then again there is probably a reason I have been relegated to plastic utensils only...

😂😂 yeah I don’t see a double rebrand happening either. That was kind of a throwaway line though, they were both more into just going to WFT permanently and being done with it.

also, they both feel that the name issue is more important than the new stadium location, which I agree with.

i’ll try to post the link below, but if not, it’s the Kevin Sheehan podcast from yesterday. Enjoy!

Yes, so they’d be hurting the entire league’s revenue by torpedoing Commanders gear sales even further with an early announcement.

What you’re asking for is basically catharsis. It would feel good, but carries no monetary value until the change is real so being conservative with public commentary is logical.

Nobody is going to care, long term, once things are done. Harris has said since day 1 this wasn’t a short term project. I don’t really see the value in blowing your load early in regards to the branding intentions and having the questions and yearning for updates be the major story for likely multiple years, overshadowing everything else. Better to just work on it in the background, while fixing the organization and team in the foreground. You seem to think the opposite is true, that it’s the elephant in the room that’s drawing too much attention because they won’t directly address it—but that’s because of the fan circles you participate in. The vast majority of people are focused on the football-related changes and not feeling negative towards ownership over the branding right now at all. Which to me says they are playing it correctly.

Thanks Conn, this all makes sense, although I can’t agree with the very last part. I would say the majority of fans are absolutely feeling negative toward the branding right now. Check the WAPO poll from yesterday posted above, or any social media that doesn’t discourage conversation on the topic.
