You need to pass as many laws as possible, even small ones. They will add up to reduce gun deaths. If it means focusing on mental health, so be it.
21 to buy weapons will go a long way.
Need to start somewhere.
Gun deaths will continue, so you can try to add more laws in the future.
Maybe assault weapons ban in the future, but what will pass this senate? Start there.

Biden is failing hard in pretty much everything. I did not mind the Afghanistan decision, but how about allowing Ukraine to win outright? People are dying there everyday.
Also, if Russia can hit Ukraine fron Russia, why can't Ukraine hit back?
The US and Nato were doing exactly zero until they realized that Ukraine had fighting capabilities.

I am glad that Beto confronted the idiot governor.
The stupidity to me is astounding. More guns means more deaths. It does not need to come in the form of mass shootings. You look at Wyoming and you notice that the suicide rate is the highest in the country.

Longer articlr explaining what I said about the anti-abortion and anti-immigration goals of white supremists.
I am reading that abortion rate is higher among blacks and hispanics than among whites. So I am not sure how stopping abortion will help the "replacement" fight.
For example, abortion among blacks is 5 times higher than among whites.
I guess they looked at the number rather than the rate.
So this may speed up the replacement.

Dude has made a conscious decision to be extremely “Trumpy”…full stop. And there’s no way that’s a good thing.
This guy acts like Joe Rogan to be honest. What's up with whining about wokism?

70-75% of the public is against overturning Roe. Same sex marriage is supported by 70% of the population. It's not simply that these are popular positions but it's the act of taking away rights.
True, but just because the public supports it does not mean that it will be their number 1 issue. So the question is, who will vote because Roe v Wade is the number 1 issue to them?

If there was an issue that was gonna move the needle significantly, this opinion will do it.
By how much? I think it may sway 1 or 2% of the population.
The inflation issue is the biggest issue for a lot of people.
Hispanics are leaning towards the GOP, and I don't think they will be swayed by Roe v Wade.
Many minorities don't like abortion or for that matter gay marriage.
So I am skeptical, and I hope I am totally wrong.

If Susan Collins had even 1 shred of decency, she would declare her immediate support for a national bill to protect abortion rights (and every other inferred right), her support for ending the filibuster in order to pass such bills to protect such rights, and if those failed, announce she will resign immediately.
She will instead be slightly concerned.
Why should she do anything? She won her last election by a big margin. Whatever she is doing worked for her.

Unfortunate, but nothing is going to change. Republicans will still win in November. With raging inflation and Biden's approval rating in the 40's, this will be not be a huge issue and Republicans will win.

Wonder if " Anonymous" is just our CIA or some sort of covert operation. Since we don't want to directly hack Russia, this makes sense to me.

I can’t believe a majority think Putin wouldn’t have invaded if Trump was still president. That includes 38% of Democrats feeling that way.
Of course he would’ve; once his puppet re-election was announced, he would’ve invaded.
Trump would then follow his hero and invade Greenland and Nothern Mexico for his anti-immigrant barrier.
Biden will look good in the end when Ukraine turns into a quagmire for Putin. This is looking more and more likely.
The bigger issue for him is the economic fallout. Gas price is already high.

I think kicking russia out of swift is going to work pretty well. They had a garbage economy to start with.
and the oligarchs are the only ones with Putin’s ear.
what we should also be doing is seize all Russian assets (in our financial system) and kicking all the elites/oligarchs out.
there would be a lot of angry people if we do that.
I hope you are right.
Too many authoritarian countries these days. They will find some way to do business. I don't know if China will do anything.

I doubt these sanctions work. We can try.
I mean, I don't think it worked too well on Iran. They had a recession and some sort of hyperinflation, but looking at their GDP, they are close to being a developed country.
I suppose this is what we can do.

It won't stop at Ukraine....

Manchin needs to be primaried. Honestly, it's better to have a republican senator in WV than this idiot. At least we will jnow what we are dealing with.
Biden is looking like a one term president right now.

You've seen something that makes you think the GOP base will learn from somebody else's inconvenience? The base will not learn.
Still, the deterrant is that you will get charged.

I don't think though that Rittenhouse getting cleared of all charges means that right wingers will start doing this more and more.
I say this because this guy still got charged.
Somebody does this again, he will get charged.
The next jury might not be so sympathetic.
So right wing fantasy isn't happening.

He has been found guilty of something. It would not take this long otherwise.

Well, I see a future as a Republican politician.

I mean, you type Kyle Rittenhouse and proud boys on google, some pictures pop up, one where he is making a white supremacist symbol and posing with the Proud Boys.
So I think this guy is probably a white supremacist of some kind.

Yes. He had it in his hand while chasing rittenhouse and then hovered over him and pointed it at his head.
he used it.
edit;: and he lied about the whole thing, to police and in court.
Which to me means that there are 2 people who need to go to jail. It should be a long sentence.

that’s the thing. My understanding is he is as illegally possessing the gun.
for what it’s worth, according to victim #3’s own testimony on Monday, victim #3 was also illegally possessing a gun.
my take at the moment is that rittenhouse will not get in trouble for that. It’s a minor violation compared to everything else. Just like the curfew charge was. And I’m having a hard time seeing how 12 people can watch this whole case, decide he was acting in self defense all 3 times, and then nail him on that.
I find it far more likely they’ll consider him to be a victim of political pressure, forced to defense himself from life in prison for lawfully defending himself, and feel it inappropriate to convict him for the possession issue.
which has nothing to do with what I think *should* happen; it’s just what I think *will* happen.
Well, let's see what happens, but given that people died, I hope at least that they don't treat that as minor.
Let's say, if a 17 yr old is caught with a gun and nobody has been harmed, then I would agree.
But here people have died--so I think he needs to be jailed for that.
The other thing here. Did victim #3 use the gun? In Rittenhouse's case, he used his gun.

Too far away for polls to matter at this point. Who is motivated to pick up the phone?
I was watching a video by a stastician recently. One variable that makes a difference is who picks up the phone.
Right now democrats are satisfied. We have Biden as president. No motivation.
Now if the trend continues in May next year, maybe I would worry.
