How can you be unsure of him and also glad he's on the team?

Because I think he has a lot of potential.  He has shown flashes but hasn't been dominant like everyone expected.  Not that difficult to understand really.  Loved his game today and what I was expecting from the get-go.  Really glad to see him come up big.

  2. Hmm, with all the QB talk going on wondered if I had the correct thread but whatever...I'm still unsure on Chase.  I think he'll be great eventually but he is still getting there.  Love to see him wreck havoc occasionally but in the same line, same with Sweat.  I think we have a great future but that both of those needed (or need) a little more time.  Bottom-line is though, I'm glad they're both on my team.

  3. With Alex distributing the ball to a lot of different receivers, I think it has let a lot of different guys show they are better than we thought they were.  Of course, we're in a nothing left to lose kind of situation and it remains to be seen if they can be counted on when it matters.  In any case though, I've been really pleased with them lately.  It bothers me some though that McKissic had so many targets earlier and since then it has tailed off considerably.  I understand all the questions from us about it but last thing I want is for the FO, coaches, etc. to be thinking about those stats.  Since he had a zillion targets in one game it has seemed to be reduced considerably that that makes me wonder why.  Maybe that one game was an outlier but still makes me wonder.

  4. As for our defense, hmm, I don't know.  Young just doesn't look like a dominant player to me so far.  Much like our heralded front line.  Lots of talk about us but being great on paper but not much action unless we're playing very, very poor teams.  I'm very disappointed in what was supposed to be our strength.  Is there really anyone on our defense you wouldn't trade for a more established / productive player?  That is where I'm at.

Ha, as kingdaddy says...it is kind of funny but our greatest concern (receivers) actually seems to be one of the highlights of the team.  Who would have "thunk" it.

But yeah, also weird how we start off so sluggishly on a consistent basis.  What is up with that?  Coaching / Play calling?  Seems like more of the same ol' same ol'.  What is the issue?  I will say, that the reverse play call when we were driving down the field made me furious, heck I'm still fuming over that call, but I think he adjusted in the 2nd half and called a better game.  That is also part of the reason I don't blame Young for the loss.  We had a lot of other gaffes in the game prior to his mental lapse. We were lucky on defense a few times and missed opportunities on offense a few times.  Hardly the fault of a single player no matter how mad I was at the time lol.

Man, I just want us to win but it is so tiresome at times when we can't win games that I think we should win easily.  I just want us to be good again but even when we get all the breaks (and yeah, it seemed like we got all the breaks today especially with the refs) we can't seem to pull it out.  So frustrating.

  5. How about, he'd be a nice addition to an already dominant defense?  Would that be okay?  Seriously, when people were talking about a generational type player, I expected a lot more.  Heck, even his mom expects more.  Not sure what the issue is but you can sugar coat it all you want but he hasn't lived up to expectations.  I'm never sure if this is because of scheme or player though.  While I will note, he doesn't seem to win many one on one battles.  Not sure what that says...

I still think he'll end up being dominant but just will take a little more time than we expected. Some guys take a while to adjust playing against men.  Hopefully we don't give up on him

  6. My opinion is that none of our defensive first rounders are really living up to their potential.  Last year, we blamed the coaches but now the coaches and scheme have changed but they're still lackluster. I really felt our defensive line would be dominant this year making the secondary a moot point but we only seem to get pressure when blitzing.  At some point, these guys (yeah, while young) have to start wrecking havoc.  Currently, I feel like offenses are happy to go against our defense.  It's a launching point for them to get back on track.  Like I've mentioned before, we don't seem to win many of the one-on-one situations / match-ups and I'm not sure what that says about our players.  Just really frustrated with what I thought would be a dominant defense.

Perhaps the groin injury is affecting him a bit more than we thought? Also, 9 games make not a players career.

also, to say “i havent seen it” about young being a JJ Watt, is silly. Watt had 5.5 sacks his first season. And he still improved

I'm more concerned about the mental errors today.  My opinion is that he is getting frustrated but you can't act out of frustration which he seems to be doing.  I'd bring him off the bench the next game just to teach him the mental errors, especially at the end of the game aren't tolerated.  Of course, it kind of singles him out when there were others screwing up as well but this guy is supposed to be a generational type player so he needs to start acting like it and producing like it.  I don't care about his numbers as much as you just can't make stupid mental mistakes like he did today.  Ha, I bet his mom will give him an earful! :)

  8. Well, that was disappointing.  Hope someone on the defense (not coaches) chewed him out.  He was lucky they took back the face mask penalty and then shoving the QB was just ridiculous.  In both cases, the play was already over.  He must be getting really frustrated because he isn't having the kind of impact he or anyone else expected.  Still, stupid mental errors but hopefully he learned a lesson.  Just so disappointing for the game to end that way though.  Not that I think he cost us the game, just hate to see mental errors like that after a nice comeback.

Allen reads D’s a bit quicker and gets rid of the ball quicker so he looks better, but we need serious help.  Between free agency and the draft if the OL doesn’t improve they will not win.  Maybe Charles develops into a starting OT, maybe not but I still believe games are won within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage.  We have dedicated much effort and resources of the defensive side, time to give some to the other side.  Until then, we better run the ball well or we won’t win another game.

I agree that we need OL help and need to invest resources on it.  Hope we shore that up in the off-season.  I'm tired of watching our QBs run for their lives even if it isn't quite as bad as I expected. Give the QB time and even a mediocre QB succeeds (just imo of course).

Even if he doesn’t, it doesn’t mean much. That’s a tough assignment for any 7th rounder to just step in like that.

Yeah, it is a tough job and being in the NFL is tough.  But, I'm hoping we does well.  I didn't really notice a big difference when Collins went down and he took over so really hoping he can keep it up and be someone we want long-term.

  11. Looks like they offered Reid a practice squad slot but he refused.  Can't blame him for feeling it is beneath him but I bet he would have made the active roster at some point.  Hope Reaves does well so we don't have to worry about signing anyone else.

  12. I was hoping they wouldn't have any fans this season.  Without them, we kind of have a home-field advantage just because we're familiar with the field, etc.  Let in fans though and they'll probably spend most of the time booing since not many are happy with the team.  So, most likely, there goes our home-field advantage and of course the next day, we'll be reading about how the 3,500 allowed fans booed the team off the field.  Although, would be cool if we score and they broke out in Hail to the REDSKINS...especially in light of the fact we might be stuck with the generic name next year as well.

Anyway, if they let them in, hope it is just extended family and friends type of thing.  Personally, I want Ron to have a chance to get things sorted before being exposed to the fan-base.  Ha...so don't allow fans for the next few years?? 😛  Just kidding.
