  1. Then you have no respect for math, or money...

Someone who has 4 tickets, thats $316 dollars across the entire season. Also, you save tax, which is an attitional $31.60

Now, i would argue that if 316 is going to make/break your financial situation, then you probably shouldn't be spending so much money on something like season tickets... but i'm not going to scoff at the idea of my season tickets being $352.60 cheaper....

    TSHILE-

I am not discounting $352.60. I would to love have an extra $352.60 laying around.

There is however a little thing called profit maximization. One would have to assume that somebody who is enticed by the 10% reduction in prices is going to spend zero to minimal money in the stadium since that extra $7.90 per ticket was keeping them away from the game in the first place. I would also go under the assumption that these people would also look to hitch a ride with a parking pass holder or take the metro as well because their $352.60 savings would be reduced to $2.60 if they bought a parking pass. Then you would have to take into account if this would cause more than a 11.1111% increase in demand for tickets since money is effectively lost on the other tickets being sold at $71.10 vs $79.

I highly doubt that they would garner a 11.1111% increase in demand to create a greater profit.

  2. Not in the long run. Price slashing would be like admitting defeat, unlike seat removal which can be spun as a fan improvement.

It sounds twisted, but I get their logic behind not lowering prices when you look at the big picture, not just the here and now.

They could do a section or two that is family friendly. No beer men, half price tickets for kids (future STH's), and some sort of mascot.

  3. he could lower tickets 10 cents on the dollar, sell more of them, and make off 24 cents on the dollar richer.

10% total cut for GA tickets, but with a sell out... when you factor in concessions, merchandise, and parking (which wouldn't be cut), he'd probably come out ahead...

I really don't think lowering a $79 UL ticket to $71.10 is going to make a lot of difference.

  4. So if the owner has the option that you describe, doesn't that mean that its "up to the owner?"

You have to think that some analysis went into the removal of the upper level end zone and in the end, Snyder decided it was in the better interest to rip the seats out rather than continue to purchase the unsold ones.

According to PFT the team would have to pay 34 cents on the dollar for the tickets to avoid a blackout. Here is more.

  5. In recent years I estimated 10-15,000 vacancies in the 400 level. At least 8,000 seats have been removed from last year.

By 'vacancies' I'm referring to seats unassigned to STHs. Most of the 400 level was occupied for the Dallas game last year, but they certainly weren't all STHs.

We're still reading of people getting offers to buy up to 8 seats for this season, even though the team said there would be no new ST offers back in July. I think it's safe to assume there are another five to ten thousand vacancies up there in the 400s.

I'm less worried about blackouts than ever before. My theory about the 'actual number of seats sold not mattering toward a blackout in todays climate' is looking better all the time. I firmly believe the choice to blackout is solely up to the host teams owner.

It is not up to the owner. The owner does have the option of "buying" the seats at a discounted price (I assume the " league split" portion of the tickets), and then they can give them away to charity.

  6. Another pick a seat day. This time its for the 400 level. Free jerseys and star player autographs if you buy 4 seats or more.

I wonder how many more tickets they need to sell?

  8. Nothing is really "sold-out" anywhere. You can call a Marriott Hotel and get a room even if there is "no vacancy " if you are a platinum member (75+ nights stayed per year), Derek Jeter can probably eat at any restaurant in New York without reservations. There are seats for every NFL team laying around somewhere. They may be scattered single seats, player returns, OV etc, but they are around. Be persistent and something will turn up.

  9. I've had two uppers the past 4 years but haven't renewed as of yet for a few reasons (lack of

$, CBA, moved further away from DC area) but have been thinking of

Calling the ticket office to renew the past few days. Would I be able

    To get tickets still?

I bet they can find a few for you. they may have to sacrifice a few "player returns" in the UL corners, but they may swing it.

  10. why should they?

    they shouldn't.

but thats the way the TO has worked in the past. the idea that there were real benefits/punishments to those who followed the rules/didn't follow the rules is about as mythical as the wait list. in the past it actually came down to how far you were willing to go in waiting, and you'd actually get stuff (parking upgrade/other event tickets/not paying for preseason games/seat upgrade/etc) for not following the rules.

I don't know of anybody who has gotten away with not having to pay for preseason games.

  11. Can anyone tell me how many rows are in the 400 section? I want to see how far I am from the top of the stadium.

    :D

There are 29 rows. I started in row 28, moved to row 18, then row 10 in 422. This year I got upgraded to the LL section 112.

  12. The practice of teams charging for preseason games is not new. Check out this case from 1974 http://openjurist.org/495/f2d/1286/coniglio-v-highwood-services-inc . It appears that even then 16 of the 26 teams in the league did require that you buy preseason tickets then. The Redskins were never mentioned in this case so I guess that it is safe to say in 1974 The Redskins did not require STH's to buy preseason tickets.

  13. It's accurate, back in the old days pre-season games were an optional purchase.

When was the last year that this was an option? I don't doubt that it was optional at some point but I highly doubt it was in the last 25 years.

When was this an option? Who in their right mind would pay more than 20% of face value to watch that garbage unless it was forced upon them? As far as I know it is a requirement of every team in the league.

  15. My problem with the PG County tax being pulled out was it was a way to raise ticket prices 10% and just say "hey it's not the Redskins it's the PG county tax". Why didn't they just do as they had in the past and have the face of the ticket $110 and keep the tax part of the face cost of the ticket? Just seems like a sneaky way to increase their revenue by an additional 10% and try to deflect criticism.

I don't ever recall seeing the PG County tax listed on sporting events elsewhere in the County. When you buy Terps, or BaySox tickets are you paying this tax as well?

  16. Reading through some of these posts alll I can think to myself is,

People that have a problem with the ticket being printed with the price and without taxes and fees

must need peeled off the ceiling each month when they open their cell phone bill. :ols:

They probably complain about it because they may think it's awkward to charge a friend $110 for a $99 face value ticket. A very short explanation to the friend usually solves the problem. The same thing happens when you buy tickets for anything through Ticketmaster though. TM list their BS fee on the ticket but it does not include delivery fee which can be expensive in relation to the ticket if you are only buying two tickets to an event.
