I got the impression Beal really enjoyed himself last season, he might just like being the top dog.  He might not be in a hurry to sign on to someone else’s team.

But will John set his ego aside to let Beal be the true #1 option?  It should be Beal's squad.  He's grown up into a true leader.  Guys like Troy Brown and Thomas Bryant REALLY look up to him.  No knock on Wall, but I can't recall and younger players really taking to him like we're seeing some of the young guys do with Beal.  Beal, is everything you'd want in a franchise player.  There's been a void of leadership on this team since Paul Pierce's departure, but I think Beal "gets" it.

If we promised Beal we wouldn't trade him, then we definitely shouldn't trade him.  I believe a front office should keep their word when they make those kinds of promises.  They need to deal with their players in good faith.

If we didn't promise him that, then Beal should only be dealt for a Godfather type offer.

If he rejects the 3/111, I think the team should explore moving him.  Though Beal could gamble on himself this year and shoot for the all-NBA to get the super-max w/ the Wizards.  However, seeing what happened with Gil Arenas after getting the big contract after injury, I'd have to think that the team would tread lightly.

We've talked about it before, but I think Beal and his camp were 100% behind the media leaks early on in the season.  He's no dummy.  He sees what's going on around the league and knows that there is no way that this team is going to be contending for anything due to their salary cap issues.  By the time they do, he's going to be in his late 20s.  Is it worth sticking around for that?

You'd need Wall to come back and prove he is an above average player for somebody to take on that deal. Otherwise, no way he will have anything close to 100% of his trade value. That's the whole point of packaging him. The other team is taking a "sure thing" in Beal while betting on Wall coming back. A lot more "ifs" than "whens".

How is he NOT going to be an average player when he comes back?  LOL.  Some of you guys got amnesia when it comes to remembering just how good Wall has been over the years.  The way some of yall talk about him, you'd think he was a Mike Penberthy clone.

OBVIOUSLY he's not going to net a return like if he was 100% injury free...but there is literally zero reason for him not to average anything north of 15/8.

He was a shade below Mike Conley's effectiveness last year.  PLAYING ON ONE LEG.

Shep would be an idiot to package Beal/Wall together.  Teams trying to fleece the Wizards just so they can rid themselves of Wall's supermax.  If they remain patient, Wall will have value by next summer or early in the 20-21 season.

  4. Don't think there's a chance in hell Buck comes back to Cap 1 for any sort of ceremony during the season.  Maybe it was just him being emotional, but in his interview, he said he's not watching games.

I loved Buck/Phil/Kara, but them being gone isn't going to make me stop watching the team.  Yes, it probably could have been handled better, but I'm more concerned about the product on the court than anything else.  Took entirely too long to fire EG, so I'm curious as to what this Shep era will have the team looking like 3-4 seasons from now.

    Just now, @SkinsGoldPants said:

How about Wall and Beal to the Thunder for some of those Chris Paul, a couple of those 1st rounders from LA and another player who isn't a complete bum. Then flip Paul to Miami for a bushel from Joe's Stone Crabs and whatever.

Wall and Beal need to be traded separately.

The return is lessened if it's a package.

Beal is probably the hottest commodity on the market right now.  Trade him alone and reap the king's ransom in return.

Wall, when he comes back, WILL 100% have trade value.  If you're an average to above average player, to good, to star player, your contract is NOT untradeable.  In a vacuum, looking the money owed to Wall is staggering.  However, the Wizards won't have any issues moving him to a team looking to add another piece to a potential championship contender.

I don't think there's a chance he's back by all-star break. I'd be somewhat shocked if he plays at all this year

Personally, I hope he sits for the season...but the recovery is 11-15 months.  Might see him out there next year....

I’m sorry, but this is a terrible situation. Beal should not be this involved. That’s the sign of a weak ass front office and owner. Oh, if the front office doesn’t consider every single scenario and opportunity, they are worthless

“Not at all," Sheppard told The Athletic in regard to trading Beal. "It's never crossed our mind. Bradley is somebody we're building around. He's been involved with everything we're doing in the draft, free agency. We need his opinion. We want this team to be a reflection of what he is all about."

I think this is all politician speak.  They'd be idiots to not field offers.  What incentive does Beal have to stay here?  This is a hopeless situation that will see him squander his prime.

  6. Beal - TON of value...he's going to net the biggest return in the league (as of now,) so why package him with Wall?  Wizards aren't THAT desperate.

Wall - He'll have value on the trade market once he returns.  No contract in the league is unmovable if you can prove that you can contribute.  I have ZERO doubt that Wall will be better than 15/8 when he comes back.  If he's back by the all-star game, keep an eye on the Wizards trying to move him this summer.

  7. Edwards was drafted before Schofield, so I'm not sure what you're getting at here as far as this being one of the Wizards' failures.  Also, there are 28 other teams that passed on Lecque, so let's see how this actually plays out before condemning.

Anyways....Issuf Sanon will probably never crack a NBA roster.  Such a waste of a pick.

Isaac Bonga has some real potential.  Talked about it a page or so back, but he's a guy to keep an eye on.

  8. Folks are INSANE thinking there won't be a market for John Wall.  Don't care what his contract is or that he's coming off an injury...he's going to have suitors the second he puts up averages north of 15/8.  On one leg, he put up Mike Conley numbers LOL

thats pretty much all I want from Rui in the summer league, just don't be overmatched and overwhelmed. Not saying he needs to light it up every game, but at least look like he belongs, and he did that.

Bonga's should get plenty of time to develop with the Go-Go. Clearly not NBA ready, but he doesn't have to be at the moment, he has some traits that make him intriguing. If we're serious about developing players, he could be a good barometer of our coaches abilities to do so

Yup...go-go is his calling for now.  Watch him be the key player (in due time) from the trade w/ the Lakers.

He's one of those positionless dribble-pass-shoot guys who can switch onto different types of opponents.  Of the three guys we got from the Lakers, he's the one with the best tools and most upside IMO.

Jones looked really rough.  He is a mess with the ball in his hands and he can't really hold a defender out on the perimeter when he's off the ball.  It's a shame because he's a talented defensive player and freakishly good rebounder for his position.  But he's going to have trouble making an NBA roster unless he gets some shooting range.

I'm pulling for Jones.  Undersized but a dog on the boards and on defense.  With the team rebuilding, they need to find a way to fit him in as the 14th or 15th guy on the bench.  I'm just going off of what Lou Will said, but it was encouraging to hear one of the best 6th men in NBA history talking him up a bit on Gil's podcast .

So the National Inquirer has pictures of Bill Clinton with Epstein and the women he was using?

If Trump knew about these photographs, why didn’t he at least leak or hype them during the 2016 campaign?

And if Clinton really did nothing inappropriate in all of his interactions with Epstein, why didn’t Hillary Clinton’s campaign make a stink about Trump’s past friendship with Epstein, during a campaign where Trump’s unsavory treatment of women was a big issue?

My uneducated guess would be that Trump didn't use the photographs because he would open up Pandora's Box. His own association with Epstein would become part of the equation.

Hillary Clinton's campaign didn't make a big stink about Trump's past friendship with Epstein for the exact same reason... she had to protect Bill.

Epstein basically has the goods on everyone.

    Whoa....this is.......plausible.

Howard's and Anthony's should be polarizing enough to keep them out, but it won't.

We would be prioritizing their stats and potential over everything else, like having this conversation in a way we could talk about if they played elsewhere and didn't have the personalities they had.  No, they bounced around the league because of those personalities, it cost them a chance at any rings to point you couldn't tell if that was a priority to them.

I wouldn't want them to qualify and question what it means to be a HOF player that they are let in.  Is it really just about the stats?

Dwight's first 8-9 years in the league is what got him in the Hall.  His stats and award resume was insane.

Melo is one of the best pure scorers in the league's history.  However, he's one of the last HOF caliber players you'd ever want to build around OR potentially want on your team.  I don't know if I articulated this well LOL...

Russ...all about him.  Will compromise and sabotage a team dynamic for his own stats.   One of the most unique athletes in the history of the sport.  However, I wouldn't want him running my team.  Of all the HOF PGs, he'd probably be near the bottom of guys that you'd want.

So you are telling me LA called us about Brad, we passed, and they went and gave up the moon for PG13? Man... that would have been an absolutely incredible haul, even if we were to get a little less out of it. We should have made the move.

Fantastic move by OKC. Presti has set that team up for the future. Westbrook + PG was not going to win a championship. If I were the Bullets, I would immediately call up Presti and offer Brad for some of those 1sts. Going into next year with a possible lottery pick, + another 1st would be huge.

Would KL have signed there?  Seems like the PG deal was the one that ultimately got him to LA.  From what I've been reading, KL wouldn't have gone to LA unless PG was there.  Makes me think that the crazy haul for George was to ensure that 1) the LA Lakers were eliminated from the KL sweepstakes, and 2) guaranteeing that KL would sign w/ the Clippers if George was brought in.

I honestly don't think that Beal would have netted nearly the same return.  It's almost a 2 for 1 deal.

However, there has to be a desperate team out there looking to upset the balance of power in the league by acquiring Beal.  Gotta think Shep played this one right by being patient.  I really believe that Beal will be elsewhere by the time TC opens up.
