  1. Are the Nats going with a four-man rotation, or have they just not named their 5th starter yet? I checked their depth chart and rotation at nationals.com and they only have four starters listed.

    .....

Aside: John Kruk grew up in Keyser, WV, about 15 miles from my hometown. And Joe Beimel pitched at the community college I attended, while I was there. (So did Steve Francis, but this is a baseball thread.) :)

  2. LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!!!! :wavetowel

I purchased a mini-season plan for the first time. 16 games, and 9 of those 16 are Wednesday games. That is the best day to go to a game here because it's dollar hot dog night. So I scored big time with that. Also, the tickets were only $137 total with taxes, and other fees. With two tix to each game, that's 32 seats for $137...a little over $4 a ticket. :D

The first game on the plan is this coming Thursday. But because it's an afternoon game, I won't be able to attend. But with the tickets came an explanation that I get a one time exchange pass, so that if I don't want to sell them, I can exchange those tix for a game I CAN go to. I dig it.

That's a sweet deal. I like the fact that baseball remains affordable, even for families, to attend.

Do you know who the opponents are off-hand rp?

  3. Yeah, understandable...just glad it wasn't the Tampa Bay Bucs, I'd still like to punch Alstott in the head (his ****ing elbow was down).

That may have been the worst day of my life, and the game was only a small part of it. But that's a whole different story. I loathe the TB Bucs to this day because of it.

Anyway, good luck to your Sawx. I'm looking forward to the game tonight.

  4.

I'm a moron. You mentioned the Skins, my brain went to football and I was thinking of Tampa Bay.

I hate Pittsburgh but I can't really hate the Pirates, they're just not good enough to be hated :ols:

Nope. Haven't had a winning record since 1992. I keep hoping for the second coming of the Bad News Bears. But mostly, it's just more bad news. :ols:

Hmm....Come to think of it, when was the last time the Redskins won anything? I'm a lot of things, but a fair-weather fan certainly isn't one of them. A masochist maybe? :pfft:

    GO CAPS!!!

  5. Acceptable.

Though I pray you've retired from your Bucs fandom.

    Nope.

I actually tried to root for Nats when they first moved. Afterall, all my other favorite teams are based in DC. But it just wasn't happening. Once I pick a team, that's it. Unfortunately. :ols:

  6. Ugh. How can you root for anything from ****tsburg?

My dad never cared about sports. I grew up, almost equidistant between Pittsburgh and Washington. I had one grandma that was a Skins fan, and one that was a Bucs fan. I picked up both, and found the Caps on my own. :)

  7. I will drink a beer to baseball, to spring, and to the desperate need for a true, hard salary cap in the majors tonight.

As a Pirates' fan, I'll enjoy the next four or five days, at which point we'll be mathematically eliminated. :ols: This is why baseball is lagging behind the other major pro sports right now in terms of popularity. There's no reason for me to watch.

The NFL has been so successful because EVERY team in the league feels like they have a shot at winning it all when the season kicks off; even the SAINTS!!!

I hope this gets fixed eventually. I miss baseball.

  8. I actually credit Lesnar & Cena for the main reason why I stopped watching, Two pointless characters. They made it worse when they tried to make him a face. Then the Goldberg Lesnar match at Wrestlemania XX put the nail in the coffin for me.

I actually felt bad for them, hearing everyone around me boo unmercifully as they tried to build up tension for the match.

Cool story though, I was sitting right at the edge of the stage, so I could see everything, but see backstage too. I was a HUGE WCW fan, and when Goldberg got backstage after the match, I screamed until I couldn't scream anymore, trying to get his attention.

He finally looked up, pointed at me, and unwrapped one of his gloves. He tried to throw it to me, but it curved at the last second, and went to an 11- or 12-year old kid beside me. I really wanted to dive in front of the kid and swipe it, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Still, pretty cool moment.

  9. Man, it started going downhill right around there. It has it's moments, but it just doesn't deliver like it used to.

For me, it ended when cars started exploding in the parking lot, and people "died" and then came back. Or when Big Show fell from that balcony, "died" and came back.

At that point, it started becoming a regular soap opera. I guess next, people from "Lumina" are going to invade, and it'll be them versus the Really New World Order. :ols:

Seriously though, I miss the old days; the real characters that someone mentioned earlier. (Man, I hated Nikolai Volkoff. I actually busted a blood vessel in my eye, booing him at the old Cap Centre. Literally. :ols:)

I guess I'm getting older, and surely that's part of it. But the other part is realizing that the Iranian Iron Sheik, and the Iraqi Colonel Mustaafa are the SAME GUY.

Do something innovative, Vince. Draw back in those of us who want to love your company again -- and aren't stupid. $.02

  10. RIP, Kanyon. :(

What is the average life-expectancy for a pro wrestler? It's really sad how young we lose so many of these guys.

Anyway. I was a huge wrestling fan for most of my life, and have gotten away from it for the most part since WrestleMania XX or so (which I was fortunate enough to be able to attend.) What's good out there right now? Last time I watched ECW, seemed like they had some good young talent over there. Is that still the case? Anyone one new on Raw or Smackdown getting a big push? Is TNA even worth turning on?

  11. yeah, the truth is we beat chad and randy.

and playing ecu has a point....marshall is pointless. though doc holliday will have a totally different type of recruit coming to huntington. who knows, maybe you can keep it close for 3 quarters instead of 2.

Dude, I know as well as you do, any kid in WV that wants to play DIA wants to go to WVU.....And I know its hard for us to recruit out of state, or KY, some of OH....I dont mind being a huge dog.....We were on a Monday night in Dallas too.

One of these days, its going to happen though. And you should avoid me (for several years) when it does. :)

  12. one day, i'll make an es gathering. but i have to, in the next 6 weeks, sand, stain and poly my hardwood floors, paint my living room, dining room and kitchen, hook up a new water line (600.00 bill for the month, i think i have a leak :dunce: ), and put new shingles on the roof. all only on the weekends, and only if i don't find painting work.

    ;)
