  1. I already hate the fact that drivers in North Carolina have to get car insurance before they can get behind the wheel.

That's why they had to include the fine/tax/fine/tax/fine/tax in Obamacare. Otherwise, with pre-existing conditions covered, you could just wait till you got sick to get coverage. And extrapolating that, you could call from the scene of your accident in NC and get auto insurance.

  2. The higher taxes here come only to those with more government reliance, i.e., the government reliance of not buying your own damn insurance and instead relying on laws that say hospitals have to save your life (at the taxpayers expense) if you need emergency care but can't pay for it.

    Pubs used to hate freeloaders.

And we still hate condescending jackasses. Could you show me my unpaid hospital bills please? Could you explain to me what my employers' plan covers for what I pay? Or do you just want to continue your false presumptions?

  3. There will be very generous subsidies that you can take advantage of so you can purchase health insurance. This bill is designed in part for those who cannot afford to pay for insurance. This bill is a good thing for you. Democrats did a crappy job selling this law, and the result of that is people simply not knowing what this bill does.

    Well sure.

Higher taxes or more government reliance? Great choice.

    I love democrats.

  4. by choice or by economic hardship? if it's the latter, obamacare would fix that. if it's the former, well, i have no sympathy if you get sick, because it's me who will be footing the bill.

Economic. I pay 55% of my income in child support (without the promised tax credit, mind you.) And my employers plan is ridiculous for what's covered. If I took the coverage, I would actually have to write THEM a check every month.

Well, in a couple minutes you may have to buy insurance. I don't know what is going to happen, but I don't think having to buy insurance is really a terrible thing for you. Just my two cents.

Or you could go on the expanded Medicaid?

And that's what they want, isn't it? More government dependence. Hooray.

  5. Freeloader.

(I'm just messing with you, HH.)

    :)

I hate not having insurance. I really do. If, God forbid, I come down with something serious, I'm screwed. They'll do maintenance and keep me comfortable. It's a scary thought. I'm conceited enough to believe that my daughters need me around.

But I just can't accept this as a solution. I was told I wouldn't see a tax increase of ANY kind. And depending on what they need to achieve at any given moment, the penalties are called fines or tax increases interchangably. So while the administration continues to "fudge" this, I'm told my reasons for opposing it are political; because that's what the party wants me to do. Does this accusation EVER stick? As often as it's used, some seem to think it's the be-all to end-all.

  6. i wholeheartedly reject the conservative argument against health insurance. how many of those arguing against the mandate would want to go without health insurance? none, of course. it's some convoluted slippery-slope principle that i think really boils down to a complete misunderstanding of the implications: if conservatives truly understood that this was in their own economic best interest, their objections would melt away. i do not buy that their outrage is based on anything other than that.

This conservative doesn't currently have health insurance.

This conservative doesn't believe the federal government can force the purchase of a private product.

This conservative wouldn't receive coverage, he'd receive fines/tax increases.

This conservative takes the above facts and draws the conclusion that the man who would put all that into place doesn't give one jack **** about the "little guy" as he claims.

But yeah, I guess I'm selfish about not wanting to pay for your healthcare, while still not having my own. Oh, and if the government can force you to buy a private product, I hope everyone will be required to purchase a Nissan next. Then I WILL be able to afford my own insurance.

  7. It's fight time. Who ya got, Cotto or Mayweather? And what's the deal with ESPN2 scheduling a fight the same night?

I think Mayweather. I want Cotto. Tired of Floyd being a chicken****.

(And no. I WOULDN'T say that to his face.) :ols:
