  1. Personally, I think Sandow would be better off as a commentator. It's about time for Jerry to go and JBL to start climbing mountains full time so he would make the perfect heel guy in the booth.

The King got neutered when he turned face and they went PG. King is way better we he can be offensive and insulting. Now he's just an old man making bad grandad jokes.

  2. Here you go Matt:

And here he is doing Flair. **** is hilarious

He's gold. Did you get a new number? Hit me up. Let me know what's happening out there.

Foreign wrestlers who don't speak the language well are extremely difficult to give any kind of gimmick besides the stereotypical one. That simply can't connect with the audience or develop their character through speech.

It could be done, but you'd have to be sure that you wanted to invest that kind of time into a guy.

Having said that, it's not just black wrestlers they misuse. For every Big E there's a Sandow. For every R-Truth there's a Santino.

Santino is amazing though. He's a great comedy wrestler and never breaks character. The guy embraced what his gimmick was and actually made it work. Props to him. I went back and watched where he almost won Elimination Chamber and the guy had the entire arena on his side and this was during Bryan's rise to the top. Would have been an explosion had he actually won the damn thing.

Oh and I like Sandow but he's honestly not going anywhere with that gimmick. He'd be so much better as manager which is what they should transition him too. He can take bumps and he's fantastic on the mic.

  3. The wwe has signed KENTA. I'm sure they will give him some mist spitting gimmick that will flop hard and we will be talking about his release in about 2 years give or take.

Does he get to take the Go to Sleep back?

He's an awesome wrestler and STIFF as **** when he wants to be. You're right there they're gonna give him some ****ing samurai gimmick where he comes to the ring with a Japanese flag and yells Bonzai

  4. Yeah that was a rare time when an impersonation gimmick was great

Back when I actually watched TNA

He was so good at it. He really is great. Probably for the best he's never been in WWE. He's a great wrestler and doesn't need them to give him a gimmick where he wears Grillz and says NOW THATS WHACK!

Cole: "Here he is ladies and gentleman Jay Grillz!"

JBL: "Don't be whack Maggle! Haha I love it!"

  5. Does anyone remember Jay Lethal? I believe he's the ROH TV champ right now I'll have to look it up. God I loved him. Especially when he was "Black Machismo" and stole Savages Macho Man gimmick. Plus he's hilarious. Too bad he's never been in WWE. I think he's fantastic. He also has one of my favorite wrestling shirts ever:

  6. That's BS. I know this because I watched WWF tv after this and they portrayed McMahon sympathetically at first. It was once it became clear that the crowd wasn't buying it that Mr. McMahon became the heel against Austin.

Also, I've seen Bret Hart act. He's not that believable.

The only part of if that I still don't know is whether Michaels was in on it beforehand. I suspect not, but I ultimately don't care.

Bret Hart on RAW last night is proof of your second point. Though he's always been a bit more stoic in older age.

  7. Did they say if Brett knew or not?

They claimed everyone was in on it. Bret, Shawn, Vince. They said it was setup to make Vince a bad guy and to make Bret sympathetic at WCW.

I don't buy it but it's interesting that two people that worked for them both claim it to be a work. One was on creative as a writer and the other was in production.

  8. I just read an interesting (and terrifying) point in a Raw review. The Montreal Screwjob was 17 years ago. And it's still being talked about on WWE TV.

This would be like in the leadup to the first Wrestlemania, Bruno Sammartino was in the ring talking about Luke Graham.

I've met two people who worked for WWE and both of them have emphatically claimed the Screwjob was a work.

  9. He almost won the Elimination Chamber in 2012. He was the last one eliminated. Also fun fact from that match is that Daniel Bryan is the only person to ever kick out of the Cobra. (OK I don't know if that's true but it sure as hell seems like it. And I'm not doing the research)

Go back and watch that match. Crowd was behind him hard.

  10. Sting would be a good fresh face. They could use Sting against Cena as the Franchize of WCW against the Franchize of WWE. Sting could go against Randy Orton. It would be " The Icon Sting vs the Legend Killer Randy Orton. They could have Sting go against "The Nature Boy Ric Flair to continue their NWA/WCW feud. They could use Jerico returning to go against Sting . Sting could join a faction etc. Their are alot of storylines they could use Sting for.

I have to admit it would be funny as **** for Sting to debut only to have Ric Flair come out and beat the **** out of him revealing it was a setup between he and  Vince all along.  One last pulling of the wool over Sting's eyes, if you will.

No one wants to see them wrestle though.  Please join us in the 21st century.

  11. And then to complete this Russo-riffic masterpiece, you have Reigns turn on Ambrose and align with HHH because....SWERVE.

I hate hate hate hate the "fake turn" angle. "Yes, I just beat the **** out of my best friend and cut a viscious promo on him, but we were in cahoots all along."

Ric Flair did this to Sting at Halloween Havoc 95. I remember it making no sense when I saw it. Arn Anderson beats the **** out of Flair for weeks, Flair recruits Sting to tag with him against Arn and Brian Pillman. At the PPV Ric Flair gets" injured" and can't compete leaving Sting alone. Finally Flair comes out and he, Arn and Pillman beat the **** out of Sting. Oh yeah they randomly recruited Benoit at the time, too so he also joined in.

    The storyline made no sense.

  12. I know WWE doesn't have any real competition and owns pretty much 100% of the market, but damn, come on, do a little better than Stardust........I laughed, but is sad on an entire new level.

A question for y'all gurus (I consider myself a extremely knowledgeable, but some of y'all are on an entire different level than myself). Right after they re-formed Evolution, they had Ric Flair back on that one episode of Raw where he talked for a bit then gave his nod to the Shield.

With him and JR being suspended due to that issue with Flair being hammered during that press conference thing for a sponsor, and JR because he let it continue. Why allow Flair to come out and not bring back good ole JR? Honestly, Raw needs JR and JBL, thats it. Let Smackdown have Cole and King. Or have it be JR, JBL and King, toss Cole to smackdown with Booker T.

The theories I've heard are that they don't like the way JR looks on TV and JR could be brash back stage. It's just hearsay though. That and they don't think his health will hold up like Brave said. The firing over the Ric Flair was just the scapegoat they needed. If you listen to interviews about what happened the developers of the game loved it.

The reason Flair is allowed back is probably because 1. He's Ric Flair and 2. He's always been in good with Vince and HHH. They both love him. You're also not going to change Ric Flair. He is who he is. You take what you get with him.

  13. Mel Phillips

I realized after I wrote that it was a poor choice of words, haha. I think WWE edited Phillips out on its History of WWE DVD. They have the Andre/Hogan match from WM 3 and it's only shown from the hard cam so you can't see him. Didn't Patterson, Phillips, and someone else resign as a result of allegations?

  14. There's no place to learn, there is no place to re-invent yourself, and there is no place to slide into retirement. You either need to stay in the WWE forever or hope that you somehow latch on in TNA.

Kevin Sullivan was on Cornette's podcast this week. He made the interesting point that as cool as NXT is, it's exposing guys greener than grass to a national audience. The audience is going to have a locked-in opinion on everyone before they ever appear on Raw.

(It was a great podcast, but I'm surprised Sullivan didn't break his arm from patting himself on the back over Goldberg).

I can't get into NXT. I think the idea behind is pretty cool but it's not a great barometer for anything. Guys like Adam Rose get over there because the same 400 people (read: smarks, fanatics, whatever you wanna call them) show up and are a huge part of the show. They buy into almost everything. Even Mojo Rowley. The minute Rose stepped onto RAW he got zero reaction other than when they were in England.

It does seem to have better wrestling overall which is nice to watch. Sami Zayn has the personality of a turnbuckle but he can wrestle just as well as Daniel Bryan.

This is true. The old news pieces on that are up on YouTube

    Really disgusting

We're talking about the company who used necrophilia to advance a storyline. The Patterson thing seems like child's play in comparison.

  15. Like I said, Brodus Clay should have been a monster heel. The stuff they did with Kane and the Authority should have been done with him.

Why do I think that? Dude can cut a promo.

    They should have unleashed him.

Brodus Clay came up with the Hall of Pain gimmick and he pitched in to WWE. So what do they do? Give it to Mark Henry and make him the Funkasaurus.
  16. According to Meltzer, the plan is Bryan versus Lesnar for Summerslam. However, Bryan's arm is actually getting weaker during his rehab, which is obviously a big concern. (There is no such thing as "minor" neck surgery).

That will officially cap off one of the weakest title reigns ever. No way they book Bryan to beat Lesnar. Feel sorry for Bryan. Horrible way to have a run with the belt.

    That's not true either.

A lot of guys read off scripts. They just happened to be super talented

Rock had cue cards depending on who you ask. Bret Hart used to take like 3667 takes to do one with promo. Sid had the infamous "lets do it again" "we're on live champ" lol

There's a difference between cue cards as talking points and here's exactly what you have to say. And really? Sid? He's a horrible promo. I'm not talking about backstage promos. I'm talking about in the ring and live.
  17. Not really.

If you go back watch attitude era shows today, a decent amount was actually really bad.

Some of the mid/low angleswere over the top, distasteful, or just really stupid. They benefited from having new stars that will end up as HOFers come around at the same time along with solid secondary guys.

The key isn't being overly violent/sexual or overly kiddy but in a happy medium like in the mid 2000s

At least the midcard had something to do.

Attitude Era was over the top (even though that's kind of the point) but at least the midcard felt important. No one cares about any of the lower tiered belts anymore. Rumor is Triple H wants to rebuild the midcard and make it important again. The tournament for the IC contender spot was cool. That had to be Triple H's idea since Vince hates tournaments. But that was a good start to making it feel important again.

I don't think the WWE needs to go more mature. They need to better develop their guys so they're not as boring as a ring post on a microphone. And not be so damn scripted. That really kills the emotion of it all. No one in the Attitude Era or before read from a script.

  18. Well, they have tried that a little with Del Rio, Punk and the Undertaker. The problem is, there is a carryover audience, and if some of that stuff is not done well, and not really applied, it looks a little ridiculous. Del Rio does it pretty well with his arm bar, but some of the stuff Undertaker looked pretty bad at times, IMO.

Del Rio fought MMA. Biggest fight was against Cro Cop.

Punk and Taker are both just fans of it. Punk trains with Gracie but I think he'd get wrecked in MMA.

  19. Some possible story for Sting it was suggested that he fight Randy Orton. Randy Orton would be in his legend killer mode after losing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It was then Suggested that Sting would eventually win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship since it would complete his career. Then have him inducted into the Hall of Fame at Wrestlemainia 31. Sting could defend against the undertaker or remember Rock still had a rematch clause from losing the belt to Cena at wrestlemania 29. Sting vs Rock could be used if the undertaker was unable to compete.

    Gallen Fantasy booking rules.
