The Packers signing Jones to a 4 year deal really makes their 2020 draft worthless. They drafted a QB in round one that wont see the field this year. They then drafted AJ Dillon in round 2 and signed Jones for 4 years the next offseason. That draft makes absolutely no sense to me.

You have to think beyond the starters. High potential players via draft provide cheap backups and ideal replacements in case the starters get hurt. Personally I would have gone with a WR instead of the QB in last year's draft but AJ Dillon is a good replacement for Williams and possible starter in case they weren't able to sign Jones.

If we draft a QB in the 1st Round we are going to have a major problem.

3 great QB's in camp, clawing at each other. No wonder they decided to cut Alex Smiff.

There wouldn't be enough time, to pass enough reps around for up to 4 great and worthy QB's to fairly compete for the #1 job. We would need extra security. and so on. So Smiff had to go

I would pump the brakes on 'great'. TH showed promise with one game in which he got injured and Allen was average in the limited time before he got injured. I would lean more on the side of we don't have 'any great' QB and that is why wanted Stafford.

A great or elite QB analytically produces the most wins on their own out of any players in the league. That's why you go all in for a guy like Watson and don't hope you can skirt by with mediocre FAs or an underwhelming first rounder in Mac Jones.

Exactly. You can always sign an average QB but then don't hope for championships or any sort of sustained success.

No you can’t, which is why the idea of moving on from the QB that you’re winning with just seems asinine to me. Draft a guy this year, let him sit for a year and then you still have him for 4 (or 3 depending on where you draft him) to figure out what to do. This is what they should have done with Haskins.

Depends what winning you are referring to. If you are happy with a 8-8 sort of season with the offense holding you back then fine otherwise you have to find at least a top 10ish QB to have any chance of being a consistent winning team. The whole sitting for 1 year never made sense to me. The rookie QB wouldn't get any first team reps, wouldn't get used to the speed of the game and in Haskins case wouldn't have the work ethic to dedicate to preparing himself. Then all of a sudden the starter goes out because of injury and you have an unprepared rookie QB that is forced to start. Why wait an additional year to find out that he can't play and then start over again?

  5. Yeah but pretty much all the passes are short 3 step drops. We are not throwing anything deep and I don't think Christian or this line would fare well if we had to. That is one of the reason we can't come back if we fall back in the game by more than 7 points.

Disappointing to me too. We will see what happens, but I hate seeing guys get fired and then bring the entire staff they lost with, with them at the new gig. But im willing to watch and see how it goes.

He hired a DC he has not worked with and retained the ST coach who he hasn't worked with. How is that bringing the entire staff?

Most coaches hire a lot of other coaches they have worked with in the past.  McCarthy is hiring Nolan as DC, Bill O'Brien has Romeo Crennel, Mike Vrabel has Dan Pees, Andy Reid just hired Steve Spagnuolo and the list goes on.

Jim Caldwell is one of the best offensive minds. He’s available. He’s a slam dunk. Ron as HC with Del Rio as DC and Caldwell as OC is a pretty formidable staff.

How is Jim Caldwell one of the best offensive minds? From what I know he has only been an OC for approx one quarter of a season with the Ravens during their SB season in 2012. Other than that his background is WR and QB coach.  He was also 2-14 during the one season without Manning which was the worst record in the league and got fired. Doesn't seem like he has any more experience calling plays than KOC.

The wonderboy’s last 2 bosses were fired. He contributed to the second worst record in the NFL in his only year as OC. That’s his record. Anything else is pure speculation and conjecture.

How do you know how much rein he was given to run the offense his way? We know from multiple reports that Callahan wanted to run a conservative offense with a rookie QB so KOC prob worked under some constraints. You keep harping that he had the 2nd worst record in the NFL - last I checked one side of the team is not solely responsible for the record.
