For the record, that was not the trade I was suggesting, not that it matters in the end as anything spurs discussion and your points are valid.

My example was a 3-team trade.

    Vegas gets #2

    New England gets #13, #77, 2025 1st, Aiden O'Connell

    Washington gets: #3, #44

LV gets 714 points in value, gives up 678

NE gets 543 (valuing AOC as a 4th), gives up 514

WAS gets 649, gives up 717

Of course we lose out, LV makes out, but in the end we get an additional 2nd and presumably get the guy we want anyway.

When was the last time we had a major 3-way trade during the NFL draft?

I wonder if teams are just waiting for financial expectations to come down for Tyron Smith, or if his medicals are worse than we thought and there will be a longer delay before he signs, or maybe even does not.

I think at this point, we really should sign T Smith. Even if he misses 5 games, that gives us a much better chance to protect and develop our rookie QB while we develop an OT.

He's missed like 33 games over the last 4 years. Which is on avg half the games every season. Rather sign Donovan smith who doesn't have the extensive injury history.

    Sucks to lose Howell.

I am having difficulty determine the value gaines via the pick swap in this trade.

What does the point scale say?

+118 points so like a bottom 3rd round pick

Haha.  Yeah as a waiter we always mocked folks that ordered steaks well done then asked for A1 sauce.  I mean Jesus what a way to ruin a steak not having the natural juices and taste in it.

This one European couple would come in every weekend and ordered a well done steak for each then two ramekins of mayo which they would smother on the steak.

    What a world!!

I never get this thought process that there is only one perfect way to enjoy a particular food. Steaks are only meant to be eaten this way and only New Yorkers know what a real pizza tastes like and steak and cheese sandwich should be this way. Whatever is good to someone's taste buds is how they should make/order it.  It might not be your preference but they are not ordering for you. To each his own.

I watched that yesterday. And I disagree with Tannenbaum. Caleb is the first NIL superstar. he is already a multi millionaire who does Dr. Pepper commercials on every single major NFL broadcast. He could easily tell the Bears to shove it, sit our for a year and reenter the draft next year.

Agree. However most of the teams picking at the top of the draft are always going to be bad teams. Also if he comes back in next years draft, another team with the top pick could draft him and then trade him similar to what the Chargers did with Giants. So he could sit out another year and the situation might not be any better next year.

They offered the job to both. Multiple sources have stated that.

Believing stories that make you feel better about it is far more dangerous.

They botched the process but ended up with a competent coach. If they hit on the QB the hire will look like it was smart. If they miss it won’t. But let’s not pretend Quinn was the choice all along. That’s laughable.

If they hit on the QB logic would be applicable even if they hired HC like Ben Johnson. Not like he would be successful without a QB. Don't get the point there.

I mean, there were two offensive guys who got HC jobs this offseason we never asked about.

I've said plenty of times that Frank Smith and Mike Kafka would have been near the top of my list.

Wouldn't have minded at least talking to guys like Joe Brady, Adam Stenaavich or Press Taylor either.

Since we obviously didn't have a problem with retreads, why not Nagy?

Also you are assuming that all those OC's wanted to move to HC and were available. Some simply are not interested or let it be known through their agents. Other than Kafka, I haven't heard of anyone of them being interviewed by any other team. Maybe they simply weren't available.

Yeah it’s very crazy from the outside. The gameplanning was just had down the stretch which is why it sounds like new coordinators are an option…but the locker room seems to be the biggest concern. Seems to be a **** show right now. So idk if the locker room having Sirianni’s back is a plus or minus given the turmoil there. Depends which players Lurie sees as foundational team leaders I’d guess.

Results determine the stories that are written/reported in the media. Winning cures everything. His game planning or the locker room is probably no different than last year. Last year they had a lot more success so everything that was reported was positive and they could do no wrong. Now the entire focus is on what went wrong. Did we hear any locker room issues when they were 10-1? Did anyone question their game planning? Last year it was all about how AJ Brown - Hurts friendship helped recruit him to Philly. This year it is all about how they don't get along.

I am sure I will get a bunch of people arguing something I am not saying here, but winning the Super Bowl should not be the only determinant if an organization/GM/coach/QB yadda, yadda, yadda is successful.

Winning the Super Bowl is ****ing hard. Not only do you have to be a great team, a lot has to go your way too, completely out of your control: penalties, borderline calls, injuries, a fumble randomly bouncing one way instead of another, a squirrel running onto the field at a pivotal moment (anyone who gets that reference gets a gold star). One bad day and you're done.

Case in point: Andy Reid is widely considered a HOF coach and one of, if not the best coach currently in the NFL. He won his first title in his 20th year coaching. He made it to the SB ONCE before that. The number of coaches to win more than one title is very small. 14 in the history of the NFL (since the Super Bowl became a thing). 4 have won more than two: Belichick, Noll, Walsh, and Gibbs. Shula? 33 years, 2 titles. Landry, 2 in 29. Reid, 2 in 25.Tomlin, 1 in 17. Cowher, 1 in 15. Carroll, 1 in 18. John Harbaugh, 1 in 16. No one in their right mind would say these are not great coaches.

So, just pointing out "this type of coach won a super bowl, while this draft pick won a super bowl" is dumb and really myopic. It ignores so many other variables. I want an organization that is constantly biting at the apple. That are always there. That consistent winner that always has an opportunity for that call, that bounce, that chance. Yes, of course I want to win a dozen championships, but given how incredibly difficult it is to win just one, we should focus on consistently contending. Then maybe the chips fall for us once or twice.

I think we should pin this post. Consistently making the playoffs should be the measuring stick for HC's and then one or more of those times everything falls in place to win that championship.

This is exactly what happened with Doug Pederson, and Lurie wasn’t satisfied with his proposed staff changes (among other things, one assumes). Lurie went into his meeting with Pederson expecting to keep him.

So anything could happen with Sirianni

It is crazy that a coach that took them to a SB and started 10-1 this season is considered to be on the hot seat because the team had a bad stretch of 6-7 games. He didn't forget how to coach after week 11. It took Andy Reid 21 seasons as a HC before he won a SB. Also who are you going to bring in that is guaranteed to do any better?

Schrager on The Herd throwing a few points about Harbaugh.

Nobody is offering Harbaugh a job yet, just interviews.  However, he did mention what I said a couple weeks ago about him and JJ being a package.  Atlanta doesn't have a QB and JJ is coming out.  Is that more attractive to Harbaugh because he could select JJ to QB the team and Chargers already have Herbert?  We'll see.

Seems like he is just using the NFL to get more favorable contract terms with Michigan.

I am not at all interested in Bezos. Let‘a have someone who put in a bid buy the team. Bezos is another a-hole with 0 sports experience who is absolutely all about the revenue. As folks said he has a reputation for being cheap. He has billions of dollars and has been doing layoffs at the Post (like getting rid of the whole Sunday mag and all its staff, including Pulitzer Prize winners) after a non-profitable year. He bought it 10 years ago for $250m and excellent staff have also been leaving the now click-bait first culture the whole time. If that’s how he handles “saving the Post,” no thanks saving our team. I know people who worked for Amazon during his reign and they hated it. He does not treat his employees well - it’s all about putting money in his pocket. This same guy spends millions himself a seat on a rocket to launch himself into space. I’d rather not trade Snyder for this dude.

While I don't know if Bezos would be a good owner or not, the co-relation between how he choses to spend his personal wealth and laying off people at the Post is misguided. Businesses/companies have to be profitable to be able to stay in existence and sometimes hard decisions like layoffs have to be made. He can't take money from one well performing business (Amazon) and pour that into keeping another one like WAPO afloat. You think he scaled Amazon to what it is today by not treating his employees well?  When you employ as many people as Amazon does, there will always be a few loud minority that will complain. You can find similar complaints about Microsoft, Walmart and others.

I'm not sure what Turner could have done differently. We can't call deep shots with two 3rd stringers on the OL. We literally couldn't protect at all, Thibodeaux came in UNBLOCKED on our last offensive drive.

We ran the ball twice when we only needed about 5 yards for a FG try and lost yards both times. I don't put that on Turner. Nobody can turn Nick Martin into Jeff Bostic.

It would have been nice to come up with something creative like a RPO or something. Everyone in the world knew they were going to run the ball there so Giants sold out on those two plays. A decent play there and we could be kicking the winning field goal.

And no fan of this team (which no longer includes me) owes him any gratitude.  Washington reached on him at 5 which boosted his entire career, and he Cousins’d his way out.  Olineman get name recognition first, then make pro bowls.  If he doesn’t owe loyalty then he doesn’t deserve gratitude.

We didn't boost his career by drafting him at 5. Player draft position has nothing to do with their performance on the field. He earned all the pro-bowls with his play on the field and has been consistently ranked among the top guards in the league. I don't get this one-way loyalty that we expect from players while teams can cut anybody at anytime. Teams make business decisions all the time so why can't players do what is best for them?

Norwell, Trai Turner, Darryl Williams are all solid IOL that were with Ron in Carolina that are currently free agents and likely on the cheaper side. Curious to see which one of them is our new starting LG or RG (if Charles/Schweizer kick left).

Also assume we draft a Guard now, not sure when.

So you let a younger player who was durable and played well go to sign older players that played for you in CAR? Makes no sense. He should have been a candidate for an extension.

He knows what pretty much all of us should know, there's no way an UDFA is going to make this roster.

I disagree with this approach. Signing UDFA's and seeing if you find a starter/contributor is a very low risk move. You never know when one of them will outplay your backup or third stringer and make the team. A total of 33 UDFA made the initial 53 roster last year. That is an average of 2 per team.  James Robinson and  Balenkship were UDFA's.

To play with a guy that may no longer be able to throw. Big Ben's a future HOFer, but he seems to be on his last legs. Maybe not the best option to maximize value for 2022.

He will still end up better stats which will bode well for next contract. Baltimore is run first team so hard to get a lot of catches.

Fair play to Trent for getting his, but I don’t care how good you are $32.4m for a tackle in one season is ridiculous, glad it’s not with us that’s for sure

Looks like this is essentially a 3 year deal. After year 2 they can decide to pickup the remaining or let him walk after year 3.

Well NE and Jax were linked heavily with Samuel, so perhaps we are in with a strong shout of getting him. Hopefully the yearly average would end up closer to 10mil than 15mil though :ols:

I hope he breaks the bank. Cap number is all that matters and as we have seen, it can be easily manipulated every year with restructures and what not. I hope every player gets the MAX they can.

Yeah, but Jones is going to be much cheaper because of his age.  We have to resign Terry in a couple of years.

Why do we care about money and who needs to be signed in a couple of years? So much could change with new players from the draft or free agency. If KC and NO can keep doling out contracts and manage the cap then so can the rest of the league. Plus most contracts are really only 2-3  year contracts with ability to cut/trade players after that without too much penalty.
