    Mason Foster released

I watched Woodrum play on the Salt Lake Stallions. Don’t hold your breath, he’s not good.
  2. I’m a season ticket holder to the Salt Lake Stallions. It’s been fun so far. From the Stallions I’d say DE Carter Schult is worth a look. He reminds me of a lesser version of Kerrigan. Their TE Nick Truesdell has been playing well. DB Will Davis has improved throughout the season and is also worth a look. League wide there have been a few intriguing players, but I haven’t seen enough of them to say for sure. There’s a receiver on the Hot Shots, Rashad Ross, that everyone has been saying should move up. And I liked what I’ve seen from the Iron’s QB Luis Perez. He apparently taught himself how to play by watching tutorials on youtube. Im no scout, but that’s my from the stands opinion.
  3. Agreed. If we use him situationally and keep his snaps lower it might help him avoid injury as well. The thought of a Kerrigan/Payne/Allen/Ansah combo on passing downs gives me the warm and fuzzies.
  4. I hope they take a look at Ansah. I was intrigued by him coming out of college, physical freak with little football experience at the time. He’s done well for Detroit but seems to get injured fairly often. I think we could finish polishing him up with our coaches and Alabama technician type players around him. Not sure he fits our scheme though.

    Evaluating Jay Gruden in 2018

Team is soft, undisciplined, unprepared, and lacks intensity... still. At this point, we’ve seen what Gruden is, and itÂ’s not enough to get it done.
  6. Not a large sample size, but Smith looked like someone I can get behind. Saw some mobility, made plays with pressure in his face, was accurate. Would have liked to see a TD on that drive, but I don’t put that failing on Smith.

Redskins receiving corp is beginning to shape up

I was impressed with our young guys at receiver. Still a lot to see/evaluate, but I’d say while we may not have a dominant #1, we will make defenses have to respect each receiver that is out there... I think that bodes well.

Official 2018 Redskins Training Camp/Preseason Thread

I think everyone needs to calm down. Minor injuries like pulls and minor sprains are a part of football. They have to work their bodies up to taking the level of abuse that they will receive during the season. I’m a believer that going too light in training camp leads to worse injuries because they aren’t used to the strain. Play football, get through the bevy of small injuries, and come out ready to out physical Arizona.
  9. I think people need to qualify what they mean with terms like “upgrade” and “downgrade.” Wins? Stats? The eye test? A better leader? I’ve been thinking Smith will likely have a slight dip in stats, less turnovers, and more importantly, more wins. We’ll see. Cousins to me was our version of Tony Romo. He could get stats, but not lead the team to enough victories, especially when it mattered most. That said I like Cousins and wish him well. Would have liked to keep him, but not for the crazy money talked about.
  10. I’m not a stat guy, but I was able to look up Kirk’s TDS for the last three years... 81 total passing TDs. I wonder how he threw 3 more red zone TDs than his total passing TDs? Curious. ?
  11. I think when people say Smith needs a running game they are looking at his history, and fair enough. My contention to this point is that the Jay Gruden offense gets the most out of its QBs. Look at Andy Dalton’s numbers under Jay compared to without. I would challenge the notion that Kirk being this amazing 4,000 yard per year passer was all Kirk, but rather what any above average QB in Jay’s system would do. I don’t think Alex needs a strong running game to succeed on our team. But if we can get one, so much the better. As for what Smith can do better to help the running game, I’d say he will keep more drives alive longer with his scrambling ability. This should tire out defenses and give the running game more time to get going.

    2018 Comprehensive NFL Draft Thread

We had one absolutely surefire multi year All-Pro player. His life was tragically cut short before that fully manifested. I think Trent has been worthy of the distinction, but I guess has only ever been 2nd team? Seems like an error or an oversight. I like the last few drafts though. Hopefully this trend will reverse over the next few years.

    2018 Comprehensive NFL Draft Thread

Agreed. At 20 he hasn’t even finished growing/filling out. He’s going to be a monster.
  14. That’s certainly a possibility, the Vikings are a good football team. However, getting to the Super Bowl would most likely require the quarterback to make big plays in big moments. From my eye test Kirk hasn’t shown much in that department thus far. Maybe he can, and will, but I’d like to see more evidence of such before giving him any titles. I’m not sure how Kirk is an upgrade from the guys they had before him to be honest. Just a more expensive version of the same thing. The real question I have is can Smith be an upgrade for us? I believe he can be.
  15. Not sure how much it’s been discussed, but I think the real wild card in the Smith/Cousins debate is Gruden’s offense. Take a look at Andy Dalton’s numbers under Gruden, and then after he left. There isn’t enough evidence to draw conclusions, but it’ll be very interesting to track Kirk and Alex’s stats the next couple of years. I’m hoping Gruden can maximize Smith’s output, and wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Kirk’s numbers drop a bit.
